Beretta To Leave Maryland

The Captain’s Journal – by Herschel Smith

As I had hoped, Beretta isn’t full of windbags and liars.  They are honest folk.  They said they would leave Maryland, and they are.

New legislation is forcing gun manufacturing company Beretta to uproot and take their business elsewhere.

Established in 1526, Beretta holds the distinction of being the oldest active firearms manufacturer in the world. The U.S. factory is located in Accokeek, Maryland, and has been a staple of the local economy for years.

Beretta warned that stricter gun control laws would push the company outside of state lines, but that didn’t stop Maryland legislators. Jeffrey Reh, a spokesman for Beretta who also serves as the President of Stoeger Industries under Beretta, announced that the company would begrudgingly uproot and take its business elsewhere. He said, “We don’t want to do this, we’re not willing to do this, but obviously this legislation has caused us a serious level of concern within our company.”

He added that Beretta paid approximately $31 million in taxes, employs 400 people, and had invested $73 million in the business over the past several decades. Despite being such a prominent player in the local economy, Beretta was unable to prevent legislators from passing tighter gun control laws. Ironically, Beretta manufactures some firearms that are now banned in Maryland.

Good.  I hope it’s painful and hard for Maryland.  I hope they lose business of all kinds, and I hope they feel it right in the pocketbook.  Take note of the next bit.

One legislator stated: “Other than target shooting, the only other reason [for a semi-automic firearm] would be for self-defense… [Why would you need a] rifle that accommodates 20 rounds semi-automatic for deer hunting? … It’s only very infrequently that someone commits a crime with an assault weapon – why do you need one for self-defense?”

Of course, it’s tempting to respond something like, “Well, if you weren’t such a dumb ass you would know that there have been home owners who had to use just such weapons with high capacity magazines to defend their very lives.  And you know, under duress you might miss.  And you know, multi-man home invasions are becoming the tactic of choice for criminals nowadays.  If you weren’t a dumb ass you would know these things.  Dumb ass.”

But tempting as it is, the best response is also the simplest: “I need all the high powered weapons and high capacity magazines I can get in order to hold tyrants like you accountable.”

Closer every day, inch by inch.

  1. Thanks, Baretta. Everyone else should boycott the state too, and buy themselves a new Baretta.

“Established in 1526, Beretta holds the distinction of being the oldest active firearms manufacturer in the world.”

And second oldest active company of any type, after some beer company whose name I forget.

  2. Good for Beretta. Maybe this will get the gun grabbers to stop trashing the second amendment. Too bad for the employees though. Maybe some of them will move with Beretta and add to the tax burden of MD., which is sure to follow. The sad part is that the residents of MD. will be shouldering that tax burden, not the politicians.

    1. Tax burden should go to the people, they in the majority voted in scum bags. Get what you vote for… I hope all gun and ammo manf. leave any state that votes for dumbass gun control….

      1. I don’t agree with you that we deserve what we get when we vote for the leaders. They get on their campaign trails and lie their a$$3s$$ off, then do whatever they want/got bribed to do when they get in office. Just look at Obama’s record compared to his promises. We are run by dictators at every level now that want to tell us how to live, what to eat/drink, what to buy, what to think.

  3. I once owned a Beretta, but reluctantly had to sell it to pay bills. It was without a doubt, the most reliable pistol I have ever owned. Wish I still had it. I hope Beretta doesn’t leave the US… but would understand if they decided to.

  4. Good for Beretta! I am currently looking for another side arm. I know now: IT WILL BE A BERETTA. The people of Maryland who feel strongly about the draconian gun laws passed by the legislator can help further punish Maryland by doing their shopping in neighboring states. The majority of Maryland residents are near enough to state lines that the added cost to transportation would not be prohibitive. Make Maryland an example to the other states who are contemplating draconian laws that benefit only abusive cops and other predatory criminals.
State and Federal law enforcement should not be allowed to have any weaponry that is denied to the general population. History shows that a lesser armed population loses all freedom to tyranny.
For those planning road trips or those who regularly travel in or through Maryland should think about topping off their gas tanks outside of Maryland.
If enough people get on board: Maryland will go bankrupt that much faster!
As one of the most corrupt states in the union; they are already on shaky ground financially.

  5. Some important points to remember is that Maryland is deeply entrenched in the Democratic machine and has put in place those electronic voting machines by Diebold that can be easily hacked and manipulated.

  6. Bring Beretta and the now closed Marlin down to Oklahoma and Texas. Although Oklahoma’s Coburn is working with Communist Jew Schumer to infringe on the 2nd, it is still considered one of the freer states in the Fascist Socialist Union. One of these days, maybe the remaining 75% of the serfs will realize that things are not going to get better so long as we continue to let the pediophile Pharisees generate our money from thin air. In the meantime, I encourage honest Jewish people to openly express their disdain for the bankers and their goy Mason bitches. Otherwise, it may be a “kill ’em all and let g_d sort ’em out” retaliation when the revolution comes.

  7. As a resident of The Socialist People’s Republic of Maryland, I heartily concur with those who say to boycott the state at every level possible. I know a number of people who have committed to moving out of state as well (I’d like to be one of them) and maybe that’s the objective of the legislators which would be to create a model welfare state for the nation. It was once said that the University of Maryland Men’s Basketball team was the “UCLA of the East” so I suppose Maryland is trying to be the “California” of the East as well.

  8. Good for Beretta…..Please entertain the thought of moving your business
to Arkansas. Beretta would be good for Arkansas and Arkansas would be good for Beretta.
