Bloomberg Strikes Again: NYC Bans Food Donations To The Homeless

Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s food police have struck again!

Outlawed are food donations to homeless shelters because the city can’t assess their salt, fat and fiber content, reports CBS 2’s Marcia Kramer.

Glenn Richter arrived at a West Side synagogue on Monday to collect surplus bagels — fresh nutritious bagels — to donate to the poor. However, under a new edict from Bloomberg’s food police he can no longer donate the food to city homeless shelters.

It’s the “no bagels for you” edict.

“I can’t give you something that’s a supplement to the food you already have? Sorry that’s wrong,” Richter said.

Richter has been collecting food from places like the Ohav Zedek synagogue and bringing it to homeless shelters for more than 20 years, but recently his donation, including a “cholent” or carrot stew, was turned away because the Bloomberg administration wants to monitor the salt, fat and fiber eaten by the homeless.

Richter said he was stunned. He said his family has eaten the same food forever and flourished.

“My father lived to 97; my grandfather lived to 97, and they all enjoyed it and somehow we’re being told that this is no good and I think there is a degree of management that becomes micromanagement and when you cross that line simply what you’re doing is wrong,” Richter said.

But Mayor Bloomberg, a salt-aholic himself, was unapologetic.

“For the things that we run because of all sorts of safety reasons, we just have a policy it is my understanding of not taking donations,” Bloomberg said.

Told that his administration recently enacted the policy, the mayor was Grinch-like.

“If they did in the past they shouldn’t have done it and we shouldn’t have accepted it,” Bloomberg said.

Richter said that over the years he’s delivered more than two tons of food to the homeless. He said Mayor Bloomberg is eating away at his ability to do good.

The ban on food donations was made by an inter-agency task force that includes the departments of Health and Homeless Services.

  1. With all the harping this dude does going after food products, he acts like a food fetish freak. I’ll bet his hot tub is filled with jello chocolate pudding.

    1. Hell Bent Spear, his tub is probobly filled with the finest champagne and Baluga cavier, with a tray of the finest bolivian flake marching powder on the edge.

      1. And the freak dances around in it wearing his granny’s panties!! How have people not got this douche out of office?? F$%&n mindboggling

  2. Well now then , howabout peewee bloomberg donates one or two of his billions to the homless shelters and food banks then if he is so damned rightous. Bloomlberg just dosen`t give a flying F about anyone but his own circle of elite and that is it. He just doesn`t care.

    1. Typical Zio-commie. Do as I say, not as I do. Just like the pigs out of the book “Animal Farm”.

  3. Every time I read dumb sheet like this, I feel like I’m reading The Onion. Maybe that sight was created as a bridge to stupidity as the new normal. Anyway, bloomer can go flog himself.

  4. It’s no surprise to me, as I have seen there have been stacks of bills for HHS and Mental Health and all these rotten agencies lately in Congress –stacks of em!– all in the mad scramble to tie the giant firearm ban to Obamacare’s nsa/hhs/ncic/cloud database and exploit the DSM-5 (a false science), and just about anything they want.

Apparently Bloomberg is now exploiting this locally.

They’re also in the SCHOOLS, and screwing with VETERANS already.

Look for VA bills, Bills on Safer Schools, Healthy Schools, Safer Streets, Healthy Streets, Mental Health at Schools, etc.

And… Watch out for their doctors’ *question* ,

    “Do you own any firearms?”

Best to LIE and say NO!

I’m no rocket scientist, but I’m pretty sure since homeless people are starving to death that going on a diet is probably not on their to-do list for them anytime soon. So fat foods or any foods for that matter, makes no difference to them. Any kind of food will help them live an extra day longer. Pee-wee’s argument makes no sense, once again. (That’s because it’s not supposed to.)

  6. I hope he chokes to death on his truffles and Henri IV Dudognon Heritage Cognac, dirty old bastard!
