Cambodia Receives $500 Million Bill From US For Genocide Services Rendered

Russia Insider – by Riley Waggaman

Wage slavery is very chic in the western world, but imagine if you were a Cambodian who was forced to “pay back” the U.S. for bombing your country and killing 500,000 of your own people nearly fifty years ago.

If you are actually Cambodian, you don’t have to “imagine” anything — because this is exactly what the United States is demanding right now as we type these words.

Via the Sydney Morning Herald:

Half a century after United States B-52 bombers dropped more than 500,000 tonnes of explosives on Cambodia’s countryside Washington wants the country to repay a $US500 million ($662 million) war debt.

The demand has prompted expressions of indignation and outrage from Cambodia’s capital, Phnom Penh.

Over 200 nights in 1973 alone, 257,456 tons of explosives fell in secret carpet-bombing sweeps – half as many as were dropped on Japan during the Second World War.

[…]

According to one genocide researcher, up to 500,000 Cambodians were killed, many of them children.

Sure, 500,000 dead Cambodian children sounds pretty bad, but so does not paying down your debts. This is the actual position taken by America’s actual ambassador to Cambodia, some asshole named William Heidt:

William Heidt, the US’s ambassador in Phnom Penh, said Cambodia’s failure to pay back the debt puts it in league with Sudan, Somalia and Zimbabwe.

“To me, Cambodia does not look like a country that should be in arrears…buildings coming up all over the city, foreign investment coming in, government revenue is rapidly rising,” Mr Heidt was quoted as saying by the Cambodia Daily.

We would like you to stop whatever you’re doing and click this link and confirm that the U.S. ambassador to Cambodia actually said this. You did not eat the “brown acid”. This is real life.

According a former Reuters bureau chief in Ho Chi Minh City quoted in this insane article, “Cambodia does not owe a brass farthing to the US for help in destroying its people, its wild animals, its rice fields and forest cover”.

And American Elizabeth Becker, one of the few correspondents who witnessed the Khmer Rouge’s genocide, has also written that the U.S. “owes Cambodia more in war debts that can be repaid in cash.”

Spoken like a true commie.

  1. What do you think the cost was to American G.I. lives and those of their families and friends who gave up their lives trying to stop Communism from spreading from China to the front door of the Phillipines?
Think of AMERICA FIRST. If the Cambodians had had any balls, they would have found and killed Pol Pot first. Remember, it was the Vietnamese Communists who had to rescue the Cambodians once that Pol Pot had killed over 4 million Cambodians in a mass genocide.
They should pay for the lives of those who tried to save them. They should repay the Vietnamese, too.

    1. ‘What do you think the cost was to American G.I. lives and those of their families and friends who gave up their lives trying to stop Communism from spreading from China to the front door of the Phillipines?”

HOW THE HELL DID THAT WORK OUT FOR YA????????????????
IM NOT AT ALL IMPRESSED….. ESPECIALLY SINCE MY COUNTRY IS EAT UP WITH THAT SHIT WHILE THESE SO CALLED “G.I.’S” ARE NOW SITTING ON THEIR FINGERS TWIDDLING THEIR THUMBS, FREQUENTLY SWAPPING TO THEIR MOUTH….WHILE MY COUNTRY LANGUISHES UNDER A DICTATORSHIP…. BUT HEY…… USA!!!
      USA!!!!
      USA!!!!!!!!!

    2. *** What do you think the cost was to American G.I. lives and those of their families and friends who gave up their lives trying to stop Communism from spreading from China to the front door of the Phillipines? ***

Someone told you that war was about stopping communism, eh? Do you also believe that current US wars are about “preventing terrorism” and/or “spreading democracy”?

If so, I have bad news for you: US wars are about making money for the “defense” industry. Since the “War on Terror” began, they have also been about strengthening Israel, which has a stranglehold over US politics.

Getting back to Vietnam, any cost borne by those American GIs and their relations is strictly the fault of the government officials and Pentagon goons who sent them to war. You don’t get to send people to invade another country and then blame the people who were invaded for whatever casualties result. The people who were invaded never ASKED to be invaded, so they cannot be held responsible.

*** Think of AMERICA FIRST. ***

That’s a fine bumpersticker slogan, but let me ask you to think about it a little more deeply. How do you define “America”? Is it the government? The military? The whole population? Everyone except “liberals”? What exactly is it that I should “put first”? Do those people stand for what I believe?

To me at least, America is defined by the principles of our Founders: inalienable rights, the primacy of the individual over the collective, freedom taking precedence over safety, etc. “America, the country” was supposed to be a kind of refuge for those who believed in those principles.

By that standard, this country we’re living in isn’t America anymore, and hasn’t been for some time. There is not a single article of the Bill of Rights that is not routinely violated by the government, and this is done with the approval of a large percentage of the population. Gun control, mass surveillance, civil asset forfeiture, laws against victimless crimes, forcible taxation to fund foreign regimes…it’s not a short list.

When it comes to foreign affairs involving the US, standing for what’s RIGHT and JUST is infinitely more important than blind loyalty to one’s “country” (a term which again, more often than not, is really used to refer to one’s government and/or its attack dogs in the military). This country hasn’t been in any danger from serious foreign military attack since the development of nuclear weapons. We can afford to do the right thing. In fact, we’d be better off ourselves if we did the right thing, which in most cases means simply not attacking other countries. Everyone would win except the “defense” manufacturers and the Israel cultists.

I’ll always support America’s founding principles, because I think they reflect the pinnacle of human ethics. But as an American, I’ll always vehemently oppose anything “my” government, military, or population does if it goes against justice.

Think of “your country” as a member of your family. Would you support a member of your family who decided to murder innocent people? If, say, my son turned out to be a murderer, I’d probably still have feelings for him, but I would NOT support his activities, and I would do everything possible to put an end to them. I’d never say, “My son, right or wrong,” because that would make me complicit in the evil my son was committing.
