Coroner called to shooting at MDJs office: reports

A police officer was one of multiple people shot at a Magisterial District Judges office in Fayette County, state police confirmed.

State Police out of the Union Town barracks tweeted a shooting occurred with “multiple victims and injuries one being a law enforcement official.”  

The shooting occurred around 2 p.m. Wednesday at District Judge Daniel Shimshock’s office, at 1 East Church Avenue in Masontown, police said.

They also said the scene is secure and there is no imminent threat to the community. State Police are asking people stay away from the area at this time.

TribeLive reported that the Fayette County coroner was called to Shimshock’s office, per 911 dispatchers in the area.

A local elementary school Masontown Elementary School was on lockdown, and South Middle School students on specific buses were bussed to the Masontown Fire Department, the Albert Gallatin Area School District posted to their webiste.

State Police are looking for witnesses of the incident and are asking people call the Uniontown barracks at 724-439-7111.

A press conference on the shooting is scheduled for 5 p.m., at the Uniontown barracks.
