Feral Cat Causes School Closure

Feral Cat Causes School ClosureOdenton-Severn Patch – by Elizabeth Janney

With a feral cat loose in one Anne Arundel County elementary school, administrators have decided to close school early on Friday.

Richard Henry Lee Elementary School in Glen Burnie will close at 9:45 a.m. on Friday, according to Anne Arundel County Public Schools.

Typically, the school day at Richard Henry Lee Elementary starts at 8:45 a.m. The feral cat was discovered before the school day began, according to The Capital.

As a result, school officials did not open the doors to students Friday morning due to safety concerns, instead keeping students outside, WBAL reported.

Students who ride the bus will be taken home on their normal routes starting at 9:45 a.m.

Walkers and children whose parents/guardians pick them up will be at the Fourth Avenue gate. Nobody will be dismissed without a parent or guardian, and students will be supervised until pickup occurs.

Officials with Anne Arundel County Animal Control have been trying to capture the cat and will set traps for it, according to officials.

  1. I’m I missing something here? Was the feral cat something like a mountain lion, a tiger or an african lion? There has GOT to be more to this story; either that or these are some of the most moronic people on the planet.

    1. Nope. It wasn’t “something like a mountain lion, a tiger or an african lion.” They are “some of the most moronic people on the planet.” It was just a little Puddy Tat.
” ‘It’s sort of bizarre that such a small animal caused such a big inconvenience. But that’s the way it is,’ said Bob Mosier, Anne Arundel County school spokesperson.”

  2. I was thinking it was one of those gray/wrinkled children that 0 opened the flood gates for. That or Bill and Melinda Gates…gotta love common core!
