Iran’s Supreme Leader Calls for U.S. to ‘Make Guns Illegal’

Breitbart – by Adelle Nazarian

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei condemned the United States on Sunday for not defying the Second Amendment by passing a nationwide ban on guns, blaming lawmakers’ respect for the Constitution on “corruption.”

“No one dares apply the clear solution to the promotion of guns and homicide in America,” Khamenei tweeted. “What’s the solution? It’s to make guns illegal”:

Iran’s strict gun ownership laws make it difficult for private citizens to own firearms. According to GunPolicy.org, “In Iran, the right to private gun ownership is not guaranteed by law.” Limits on gun ownership have allowed the repressive state to swiftly crack down on any dissident activity. Police handily used violence to corral, arrest, and cause to disappear the unarmed protesters behind the mass uprising that began on December 28, for example, limiting their effectiveness.

Khamenei continued, “Gun companies are so powerful that House representatives and U.S. senators don’t dare pass prohibition of guns, and U.S. president doesn’t dare speak out, rise against it. This is corruption.”

Adding to that, he wrote, “Corruption means domination of a mafia greedy for power & wealth, in a way that the big political & military system like U.S. won’t dare stand up for prohibition of guns—which is clearly positive. This is due to lack of spiritual ideals, leading western societies to this point”:

In January, as dozens of protesters died in the streets of Iran and hundreds more were arrested for calling for change in the regime which does not serve the people’s interests, Khamenei invoked the radical Black Lives Matter movement. He did so in a tweet slamming the United States for committing supposed “oppression” of “black women, men, & children for no justifiable reason.”

On Sunday, he tweeted, “In US, 100s are killed every week by homicide for no crime,—no reason—not at the hands of police, as US police brutality is a separate issue. The accessibility of guns leads to homicide; it’s created problems for a country like US, everyone admits, fears, & is concerned about it”:

The recent uprisings in Iran were the result of years of financial oppression suffered by the country’s rural population. The regime has regularly funneled money that could have gone to the people into supporting its Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and its export of terrorism throughout the Middle East and Latin America, including meddling in neighboring countries like Syria, Libya, and Iraq.

“If we want the country, the nation, the human society to achieve bliss, the way to do it is to prefer religious and divine ideals to all other ideals. This should influence our economy. This should impact our scientific works,” he tweeted:

In Iran, there is no separation of religion and state. Shiite Islamic scholars have arguedthat “all Islamic governments” are failures.

Women have also risen up against the compulsory, or mandatory, hijab.
