A hardware store owner in East Tennessee is celebrating a new Supreme Court ruling by putting up a sign that says “No Gays Allowed.”
If that sounds familiar, it’s because he’s done it before and made national headlines for it three years ago.
WBIR reports Jeff Amyx first put the sign up on his Amyx Hardware & Roofing Supplies store in Grainger County, about an hour outside of Knoxville, back in 2015 after a Supreme Court ruling legalized same-sex marriage nationwide. Amyx, who is also a baptist minister, said gay and lesbian couples are against his religion.
According to USA Today, Amyx later removed the sign following backlash and replaced it with a sign saying “We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who would violate our rights of freedom of speech & freedom of religion.”
But on Monday, Amyx posted a sign saying “No Gays Allowed” at his store again.
He told WBIR that he was celebrating a “win” after the Supreme Court narrowly ruled in favor of a Colorado baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple. The SCOTUS ruling said the Colorado Civil Rights Commission violated Jack Phillips’ rights under the First Amendment, though Colorado law prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.
Good for him, should be great for business. A man who speaks his mind and let’s it be known, no holds barred.

They’re against ANYONE with any decent sense of morality.
They’re anti-life, by their very nature.

Also you can ask a question and I asked.; ” Isn’t this a free country?” If a gay person would put up a sign ” no straight people allowed” I would bend over backwards not forwards to thank them before entering the place. Immediately it was taken off by google
This is going to be a slippery slope on many issues. For example: if an apartment building owner doesn’t want any gay people living in any of his apartments, does this mean he is allowed to refuse to rent to gays? How about Muslims or any other religion that isn’t the same as his? I don’t really know what good that sign of his will do anyway. Unless someone is speaking with a lisp and has their wrist bent, does he plan to question every customer that walks through the door?
Hey, its a start …At least he is standing up for what is right and that’s what we should all do.
I don’t care what a person’s political views, religion, or sexual preferences are, what I care about is the Bill of Rights being law.
I don’t know why any gay person would even want to do business with a person that does not want to do business with them, but I think Henry covered this topic nicely. A person would have to prove in a Common Law court that they are due monies for damages.
I want to live with Bill of Rights as law, not a theocracy.

Lester Maddox was a nobody….before he became Governor of Georgia. The Golden Rule…..don’t judge….but puleaze…no flaunting…the money and exchange commerce and business all given up for what normal people keep private.
