Obama with moms in new push for gun control laws

Washington, DC, United States (4E) – President Barack Obama Thursday pleaded to Congress to pass gun control legislation with mothers of victims of gun violence punctuating his appeal made at the White House.

Obama said it’s a shame if the shooting that killed 26 people killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in December was already forgotten.

“I haven’t forgotten those kids.,” he said.

And as the mothers flanking him cried, Obama said, “”We’ve cried enough. We’ve known enough heartbreak. What we’re proposing isn’t radical. It isn’t taking anybody’s gun rights. It’s something that, if we are serious, we will do.”

Families of three of the Sandy Hook shooting victims were among the audience in the White House East Room.

Obama’s appeal hopes to renew Democratic senators’ support for gun control measures scheduled for deliberations in the Senate after the Easter recess. Among those measures are background checks on gun buyers, penalties on straw purchases and funding for school security.

The President also hopes to reverse weakening public support for new gun controls as indicated in opinion surveys.

Opponents to new gun controls were unmoved by Obama’s call. Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) said the president’s proposal go against constitutional rights of citizens to protect themselves. He also argued that new gun control laws will have little or no effect on gun crimes.

  1. Obama with Moms…. how sweet.

Does this low-life, lying dirt bag even know who his own parents are?
