Occidental Professor Warns: Be ‘Suspicious of Males Who Strongly Identify as Men’

PJ Media – by Faith Moore

In an article for Public Books, Lisa Wade, a sociology professor at Occidental College (which, I’m embarrassed to say, is my alma mater) recently wrote that “we should reject the idea that men have a psychic need to distinguish themselves from women.”  Why?  Because “masculinity is toxic.”  In fact, we should be “suspicious of males who strongly identify as men.”

Frankly, I’d be more suspicious of males who identified as something other than males like, say, toasters, or unicorns, or their great-aunt Mildred’s long-lost cat. It seems to me that those males would be delusional and therefore far more suspicious than males who actually identified as males. Since that’s what they are. It would at least display a much stronger grasp on reality than our dear friend professor Wade.

Let me break Wade’s theory down for you, because I could see how sane people might have a little trouble following it. Wade believes that there is literally no difference between men and women. And, since there’s no difference between men and women, anything that is seen as being inherently masculine or inherently feminine is actually just a social construct. And (as if that wasn’t crazy enough,) every single thing that is supposedly male is bad. “If we are going to finish the gender revolution,” declares Wade, “then, we need to call masculinity out as a hazardous ideology and denounce anyone who chooses to identify with it.”

Honestly, I despair for the male college students of America who sit in lecture halls and seminar rooms and have to listen to this garbage. Who don’t know any better than to believe it. Who sign up for classes that promise to help them reduce their own toxic masculinity, because, by virtue of having grown up a man in a gendered world, they are at risk of becoming rapists. Who passionately deny that there are inherent differences between men and women, and feel they must apologize for everything they do, or like, or say, that fits the stereotype of their “assigned” gender.

Wade’s article is ostensibly a reaction to the “vulgar and vindictive masculinity” of President Donald Trump. But it also comes in the wake of the allegations of sexual misconduct leveled at producer Harvey Weinstein and other members of the Hollywood community. Wade’s point is that bragging about “penis size and how he’d never rape an ugly woman” is simply what maleness is all about. And, therefore, it must be eliminated.

Poor Wade, your daddy wasn’t very nice to you, was he? Of course sexual harassment (and rape, and molestation, and all forms of sexual misconduct) is wrong and should be eliminated. But real men don’t do those things.

See, men and women really are different. Men, for example, are naturally more physically aggressive, have higher sex drives, and prefer to solve problems rather than talk about them. Women, on the other hand, are naturally more emotional, more nurturing, and less decisive. These differences are innate. Sure, there are variations within the rule.  But no amount of social programming will cause the average man or woman to stop being an average man or woman.

What society can (and should) do is teach men and women how to master their drives and use them for good, rather than evil.  Men should use their superior physical strength and their natural tendency toward using it to protect people weaker than themselves (like women), rather than just attacking whoever they feel like whenever they feel like it. Women should use their emotionality and nurturing impulses to express empathy, build strong families, and raise well-adjusted kids, rather than devolving into fits of anxiety and hysteria. Society teaches us to master our innate drives. That’s the social construct, not the innate drives themselves.

Men like Harvey Weinstein are giving in to their basest male urges. They’re not living by a code that allows them to use their male urges for the good of society. And it’s this (not their maleness) that makes them scumbags, lowlifes, and criminals.

If you don’t acknowledge the differences between men and women — if you say they don’t exist, or that women are just as interested in sex, or just as physically strong — then you create a society that doesn’t teach men how to be men. Just as it doesn’t teach women how to be women.

If men weren’t physically stronger than women, or more motivated by sex, or less in touch with their emotions, then they wouldn’t need to practice chivalry, stand up for honor, develop a sense of loyalty, determination, and drive. Just as women wouldn’t seek to be thoughtful, supportive, and kind.

A generation that, as Wade commands them to, denounces anyone who chooses to identify with masculinity, will necessarily be one that filters out self-control. Because, if you can’t acknowledge your inherent nature, then you can’t learn to exert control over your baser instincts. But when institutions of learning allow our children to be indoctrinated by people like Wade, that will be the result.

  1. I’d be more suspicious of men who strongly identify themselves as women.

I hear Catylin Jenner and Charlie Sheen are running in 2020.

    If I was Catylin….

I would guard my…you know what.

    1. flee… ole catlyn could do like my crazy uncle roscoe……
he cut his pecker off while in the hospital and threw it in the corner………………..
when the nurse inquired to this insanity while trying to staunch the flow of blood, he replied,
” THE DAMN THING HAS NEVER GAVE ME NOTHING BUT A HARD TIME”

      1. As a med student at USC (I know, belly of the beast) I was selected (whoopee) for Satur-Day and Night shift at the LA County Hospital Surgical Triage/Treatment unit.
One of those things typical of medical training where you get 6 months experience in 1 month. Looking back. I was young. Learned a lot. But it really sucked at the time.
        Sorry. Just some background.
In the middle of some Saturday night in 1982 or 1983, there was an old skinny “wino” whacked out of his mind. Arms and legs tied down for his and our safety.
I think he’d been either knifed or shot small caliber in the upper abdomen. No horrible abdominal swelling so we figured no major vascular damage requiring immediate surgery (compared to everybody else in there).
My fellow Med Student was a female friend from an upperclass Pasadena wealthy family. Very nice but very prim and proper.
I diagnosed and fixed a leaking heater core in her late model Mustang for her (in my free time that I didn’t have) so she trusted me. No sex, though. She made that clear up front. As a military brat from Medford OR , I wouldn’t fit in with her eugenics incestuous family. My speculation. Maybe she just wasn’t attracted to me? Her loss.
Any way. On with the story.
We were instructed to put in a Foley catheter into our patient. We did so.
FYI. A Foley is a hollow rubber tube inserted into the bladder through the penis/urethra to monitor urine output.
Use your imagination. It’s not a “fun” thing for any patient. But it needs to be done to monitor renal function and vascular fluid hydration levels.
Once in place, a balloon is inflated with saline in the bladder to prevent the catheter from falling out. It’s about 1 ½ – 2 inches in diameter.
Our patient wasn’t happy with our procedure. No surprise there.
Somewhere during the sterile procedure, he got a hand loose under the draping.
When we were done and feeling smugly satisfied at 3-4 AM or so.
He struck a fixed gaze directly upon my prim and proper fellow Med student. Reached down. Grabbed the rubber catheter with his hand.
And, I swear, with out flinching or batting an eye, pulled it out. And grinned. With the balloon still inflated.
My female friend was stunned. As was I.
Many things go through your mind like, holy shit how did he do that, damn that’s gotta hurt, his prostate is surely reamed out now, etc.
After the stunned reaction, your mouth closes and you start thinking again.
Looking down. It was obvious that although he had minimal blood loss before, that was no longer the case. Lotsa blood spattering everywhere including all over us, our faces, etc.
Obviously, a tourniquet is not appropriate or effective in this situation. Pressure helped a little.
Sorry to run on like this.
But it definitely made an impression on everybody who was there. Especially my partner.
Not as bad as cutting off your penis, but definitely more blood loss.
Just a life lesson for all of us.
If you ever get a catheter shoved up your penis/urethra into your bladder, DO NOT pull it out on your own.
I hope you found this tale amusing.
        It’s 100% true

          1. Thanks for the response.
I forgot to say, however, that as crazy as this was, as whacked as he was, he was definitely strongly identifying as a man.
Staring my female Med student friend down and grinning while pulling a 2 inch liquid ball out from his bladder through his penis.
He was definitely identifying as a man.
Definitely more “cojones” (testosterone or alcohol) than I have.
Although, I’m betting he had some “frequent and urgent urination symptoms” later in his life.
Maybe that’s why there are now more “Adult” diapers sold than baby diapers.

        1. I believe it…

I’ve heard some of the same stories.

          Ya just can’t believe it.

          Talk to a corpsman vet.

          But it’s true…

It’s amazing how much mental trauma we can take when you’re young.

  2. Wouldn’t be much of a man to begin with if you didn’t at least verbally b***h slap anyone who proposed such an idea. It helps to separate the wheat from the chaff, anyway.

As far as the “gender revolution” goes, I would hardly call that a noble endeavor, as you are fighting nature. Good luck with that you freaks. Try putting some effort into something that will bring about some good and stop trying to push your delusional mental problems onto US. You need help!

  3. Liberal philosophy has gone off the deep end, and everyone knows it.

I think we’re going to see a lot more people denying that they ever ascribed to liberalism, and it may be intentional. We’re seeing endless statements from liberal professors and the like that are so contrary to popular thinking that they have obviously given no thought to pubic acceptance, or are intentionally trying to offend it.

It’s an attempt to further divide Americans along political lines, just as they endlessly try to divide us along racial ones. If we refuse to fight each other, their plans fail.
