Popular Second Amendment Writer Robert Eugene Owens Dies of Apparent Suicide

The Political Insider – by Paul

Robert Eugene Owens was one of the most vocal defenders of the Second Amendment in the country, and he used his platform on his website Bearing Arms to inform Americans about the value of our gun rights.

Tragically, it appears Robert took his own life on Monday in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina. He was 46, and police believe the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.

According to his website, Bob’s passion for guns and politics began in 2004:

Bob began blogging as a North Carolina native in New York at the politics-focused Confederate Yankee in 2004. In 2007, he began writing about firearms, gun rights, and crime at Pajamas Media, and added gun and gear reviews for Shooting Illustrated in 2010. Bob is a graduate of roughly 400 hours of professional firearms training classes, including square range and force-on force work with handguns and carbines. He is a past volunteer instructor with Project Appleseed. He most recently received his Vehicle Close Quarters Combat Instructor certification from Centrifuge Training.

From WNCN:

The body was found just before 11 a.m. near the intersection of Sequoia Ridge Drive and Judd Parkway, near a stop sign, authorities said. A firearm was found near the man’s body. The medical examiner and the Raleigh-Wake City-County Bureau of Investigation are assisting in the investigation.

“This is an ongoing investigation by the Fuquay-Varina Police Department and we will await the medical examiner’s report as to the official cause of death,” police wrote.

Bob is survived by his wife and two daughters, who are 9 and 17 years old. According to his Bearing Arms website, a GoFundMe page has been established to help out his family.

Just moments before his death, Owens posted to his Facebook wall, apologizing for not being “strong.”

It’s truly heartbreaking when a person’s inner demons become too much to bear, especially when that person leaves close loved ones behind to pick up the pieces and live with that huge gaping hole in their family.

Here’s Bob doing what he loved at the range:

Owens’ strong pro-Second Amendment voice was a valuable asset and he will truly be missed. Our hearts and prayers go out to Owens’ entire family during this trying time!

  1. “It’s truly heartbreaking when a person’s inner demons become too much to bear,…”

I think we can chalk this one up to OUTER demons.

  2. I worked with Bob back when he ran Confederate Yankee when he uncovered the “Baghdad Diarist”… I was his source in Kuwait and an often commenter and collaborator… I stayed in contact over the years… I don’t buy it for a second… something about this reeks to high heaven….

  3. Is this another one of those: “yeah he was shot in the back of the head, but it’s going to be ruled a suicide officially”? Just because he posted to Facebook (allegedly) doesn’t mean it was him who did the posting.

    1. two to the back of the head, suicide a la Vince Foster

-yes, we know, the coroner was in on it or the next victim

  4. Not common behavior for someone to shoot themselves outside of their home, especially not at a street corner. I would be interested to know the entry point. From the lower back cranium is not suicide, in case the useless FBI are not aware.

  5. Something stinks about this
But like every other false suicide , we the public will not hear the truth

  6. Unless I’m remembering incorrectly or have him confused with someone else, Owens was pro-pig and a fanboy of “our troops.” Someone like that might be pro-gun, but he is no friend of the 2nd Amendment.

I don’t see why the Deep State would want to “suicide” someone like that. If anything, he’d be useful to them as a voice that convinces people that the 2nd Amendment is only about defending yourself against common criminals.

  7. It is a shame that someone would stand up for law”, and yet never learn it’s precepts. The bill of rights is a self contained amendment with ten separate articles………….. Not ten “amendments”.
