San Francisco Power Outage Affecting More Than 78,000 Residents

San Francisco Patch – by Randy Miller

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A massive power outage hit downtown San Francisco Friday morning, leaving thousands without power, closing a BART station, and affecting traffic signals in the area. Pacific Gas & Electric officials say that “crews are working safely and as quickly as possible to restore power,” but they have yet to report an official time that power will be restored. PG&E Spokeswoman Tamar Sarkissian said about 90,000 PG&E customers were affected at one point. She did not know the cause of the outage or when it would be resolved.

As of 11:45 a.m., PG&E has reported that power has been restored to 10,000 residents:

As of 11:30 a.m., BART is reporting that Montgomery Station is up and running:

San Francisco Police report they are working with PG&E to address the massive power outage affecting portions of San Francisco Friday morning.

San Francisco Fire Department officials say they have no reports of injuries so far due to the power outage.

BART trains are still running between the East Bay and San Francisco, but passengers cannot get off at the Montgomery station because of the power outage.

  1. I just can’t resist this one.
These people better get a handle on this situation.
And I mean snap right now.

Do you know what type of riotous situation this enables when a a million fags can’t get home and their gay sex toys didn’t charge and are dead?

    What are you…
    A fkng scientist…?

    1. Yes indeed… when that power goes out and stays out… it’s going to be one big horrific Thunder Dome.

  2. Solar panels, wind gen, petro backup gen, stored propane and other fuels, batteries, batteries, batteries, and a STOUT middle finger! To name a few.

P.S. Not being in the city, and things that go BOOM is a given… 😉

  3. If you are asking me. HELL NO! GROSS!
4 years ago, one hell of an ice storm took down the power here (SoDak) for a week.
    Cold and miserable!
Don’t plan on that happening again.
    I was speaking in general.
(Laughing) Don’t give a banker’s ass what happens in butt pirate land.
Although a giant sinkhole is a thought.
I heard there’s issues on the east bank as well.
