Suspect in custody after active shooter alert at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center

WMUR 9 News – by KC Downey

A suspect has been taken into custody after an active shooter alert was issued Tuesday at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center’s main campus in Lebanon, state police said.

The hospital was evacuated Tuesday afternoon after an “active shooter” alert was issued, but there was no immediate confirmation of a shooting.

Police asked people to avoid the area.

Another alert was later issued by hospital officials saying that they believed a shooter was in the building, but contained. He was described as a 6-foot, 1-inch tall man with salt-and-pepper blond hair who was wearing a red camouflage shirt.

The identity of the person taken into custody has not been released.

Police who were letting traffic through on Mount Support Road stopped a silver Ford SUV at one point and approached it with their guns drawn. It was not confirmed whether the person in the vehicle was the suspect who was taken into custody.

Lebanon High School and Hanover Street Elementary School were locked down, according to school officials. Parents were told that they would not be able to pick up their children until the emergency situation was resolved.

A hospital employee told WMUR that staff was evacuated. She said she was seeing patients in wheelchairs and those who need assistance also being helped out into a parking lot.

Another hospital employee told WMUR that she was moved into a bank on the campus and locked inside, along with some others.

Another employee said the hospital issued a “code silver” alert, which indicates someone possibly being violent with a weapon.

  1. “… who was wearing a red camouflage shirt.”

    Come again? RED camo???

“There were no immediate reports of injuries.”

If there were, they’d likely be lies.

All those sheeple milling around don’t appear to be too concerned.

  2. Red camo is for hiding in red maple trees in October

    Lol
    Red camo
    Lol

Is that like the navy’s blue camo
    , just as stupid

  3. I’ve seen a lot of “active shooter” articles in the last few years.

So here’s a description of an “Inactive shooter”.

It’s a person dressed up as an evil clown running among students terrorizing them on campus with a big dirty Harry 44 magnum wearing red camo.

When the clown corners the students.

    Then pulls the trigger.

A big flag pops out of the barrel that says.

    BANG!
    HA HA!
