Nothing new about this. The medical profession has been practicing iatrogenic medicine for decades. Iatrogenic : induced inadvertently by a physician or surgeon or by medical treatment or diagnostic procedures.
It works both ways. Keeping people alive in some cases is equally playing God. Sometimes real and hard decisions really do have to made by mortal men, not imaginary sky people. Sometimes loved ones just have to grow up and face real emotions like grief, no matter how much of a customer transaction they think life can be reduced to in the drive to get what they wish for.
Doctors play dumb and refuse Dx and withhold info from patient for decades. People are shocked but they have always exercised this privilege – especially to maintain profit relationship with their employer – your insurance company.
