Walmart Workers Ask For Safe Work Environment, Walmart Calls Riot Police

Buzz Feed  About 650 people protested a major Walmart distribution center Monday in Elwood, Illinois, the Chicago Tribute reports.

At Walmart contractor Roadlink, workers have been on strike since mid-September, claiming unsafe working conditions and unfair wages. From the movement’s website:

No one should come to work and endure extreme temperatures, inhale dust and chemical residue, and lift thousands of boxes weighing up to 250lbs with no support. Workers never know how long the work day will be- sometimes its two hours, sometimes its 16 hours. Injuries are common, as is discrimination against women and illegal retaliation against workers who speak up for better treatment.

Reports from the protest vary, but photos show riot police restraining some protesters with zip-ties. The rally had apparently been declared an “unlawful assembly.” Pat Barcas of Fox Valley Labor News reports that 17 people were arrested.

Land of the fee and home of the scam.
Shame on these people thinking that anybody gives a damn for the common folk as this country on cares about banks, corporations and rich people.
I used to work for walmart 3 years ago and shit like this don’t surprise me.
When will people learn that nobody gives a damn about protesting and when you do the pigs will beat your ass the same at the call of their masters.

    • Anon says:

I agree, with camil2003 – THERE IS NO PURPOSE IN PROTESTING, here is what I recommend you do:

Getting your money out of any TBTF Bank is ONE thing that you can do. However, there are many, many other things that we can all do, too!

      Here are just a few:
      1) BOYCOTT – learn this concept well, and EMPLOY IT – against those enslaving you!
      2) THINK for yourself. TURN OFF the IDIOT-BOX (TV) OR THROW IT AWAY!
      3) QUESTION all ‘authority’ (Big Business/Government, Big Religion, Big Media, etc.)
      4) Get out, and/or stay out, of DEBT!
      5) USE CASH AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. Avoid using credit, debit, and customer loyalty cards
      6) Bank at a local credit union!
      7) VOTE WITH YOUR DOLLARS! (What do you support, with your time, money, and energy?)
      8) Contact your Representatives on critical issues: such as “END THE FED!”
      9) Re-read the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. It isn’t about hunting. It’s about tyranny.
      10) Buy (products) Made in U.S.A.
      11) Invest in precious metals, primarily SILVER (and gold).
      12) Buy ORGANIC food! Support your local Organic food store or Co-op!
      13) Start your own garden using NON-GMO, non-hybrid seeds!
      14) Pray or meditate – reduce your stress!
      15) Read a book, you know, an actual book! Open your mind!
      16) Exercise your brain muscle!
      17) Listen to soothing classical, jazz, ambient or other music you thoroughly enjoy!

As for ORGANIC food companies, here is some very practical, ‘actionable’ information:

Which, so-called “organic” food companies are fighting Prop 37 in California, to stop GMO labeling, and which organic food companies are funding/supporting GMO labeling (ie, your right to know)?

Boycott the Organic and ‘Natural’ Traitor Brands Whose Parent Companies Oppose Your Right to Know (who oppose CA Prop 37)

Which Mega-Corporations own which “organic” food companies?

Number 17 needs some work. Reminds me of a bunch of hippies sittn’ around smoking weed & listening to that Indian twangy-wangie stuff, getting beat down by the oinkers.

There’s no better sound than the cries of agony of one’s oppressors.

  2. Doug Diggler says:

Some real pigs there, intimidating and bullying people peaceably assembling to redress grievances against dangerous working conditions. It’s like the progress of the last 100 years never happened. Thanks Democans and Republocrats.

  3. Deborah says:

Wow. The cops are really dressed for a scuffle…what a bunch of crap. How much did the citizen have to pay for the cops to show up like they are in star wars? Come on…I remember Andy of Mayberry what happened to local police.
I live in a small town (700) they have black suv’s with lots of lights…really! Heifers going nuts?

  4. NC says:

China – Mart! What do you expect? If you think Walmart and their worker treatment is bad in the U.S., you should see Walmart in China. They are just as bad. Hence, why one of the reasons it is called Chinamart. The management puts down any worker rebellion or fires any employee who goes against management and does not allow unions and is a total communist slave labor. Then when you add the Chinese products and guidelines, you get Chinamart. Plain and simple.

  5. NC says:

Are all of these riot police really necessary? For only a few hundred 50 year old protesters, you can’t have a squad of police guarding the area? You need these goons, dressed with more padding than a person who is afraid to fall off a skateboard, to watch the 50 year old protesters? Are you kidding me? What a bunch of cowards. How pathetic can they be?

  6. Tim says:

Even though I am awake, I look at these pictures in shock and disbelief.

  7. BentSpear says:

A good example of things to come. Outrageous is is only a mild descriptor.

  8. chris says:

Memo to all military and cops:
No standing there in all that gear and trying to look intimidating actually has the opposite affect it makes you look like gigantic pussies. If you are also fat it doesn’t help when your 2nd chin is spilling out of your uniform it makes you look like a slob. Why don’t you take off all the gear and weapons and try going 1 on 1 against some of these people you are beating.

These pigs deserve no sympathy when the people they beat realize that those badges they like to hide behind don’t actually make you impervious to getting your ass beat and they proceed to curb stomp you.

    • NC says:

Well said, Chris. I particularly like the “2nd chin” comment. lol

      • TranceAm says:

Hey, give the jock a break, at one time he was the strongest on the team.. No brain needed, just keep the other side back when the ball goes in. Dumbell comes to mind.

  9. Lowenstein says:

@Deborah, don’t worry your small town police force will soon be more forceful with the addition of a few armored vehicles, a drone and a surprise or two. Sorry but your taxes will have to go up, up and up to pay for the added security. But it’s for your own good.

@NC, necessary you ask! Why of course, don’t you see that those officers are in fear for their lives? Trained in Israel with your tax dollars. Ah the goyim, used to keep their own goyim in line. How sweet. The police practice at the local gun range, – ten to twelve police all firing at the same target. Not much of the target left after they empty their guns. The chief says it’s called total control.

  10. NC says:

You know what I see. I see the police from the movie, “Idiocracy”. Remember when the two policemen are all in riot gear and they just tell the main character in a dopey dumb-downed voice to “shut up” and then zap him with the tasing baton when he is trying to explain his situation. These cops look just like them. It’s uncanny. lol

  11. NC says:

These cops look like they are so afraid to get hit in the slightest way. I bet they have never been punched in the stomach before. They are so afraid of their own shadow, it’s hilarious. The only people I see who are afraid there are the riot police themselves. I think they are afraid that old Grandpa Simpson will come out and hit one of them with their walkers after doing a standard Walmart greeting. LOL What a bunch of cowards.

  12. BentSpear says:

Thanks for the pics. Lots of intel.

  13. 2012 says:

There is a good documentary called ‘Wal Mart: The High Cost of Low Price’ that all should watch. I believe it is still on YouTube.

  14. Lynn says:

Thank God no one used Silly String on the police or they probably would have been shot or at the very least beaten up!
