WHY I CARRY: Violent Home Invasion Caught on Home Security Camera

Guns Save Lives

Here is another one of our “Why I Carry” stories. These stories, unlike our defensive gun uses, take a look at situations that may have turned out very differently if the victim(s) had been armed. These stories also serve as an important reminder as to why it’s important to carry everyday.

In this case, a violent home invasion in Pittsburgh, PA was capture on camera.

According to CBS Pittsburgh, one of the victims, a woman, gave the following account of the incident,

“And I looked and there was a guy,” she said. “He had a mask on and a gun pointed to me, and I was in shock and just stood there. I don’t know why, but I got up and turned toward the back of my house and tried to go downstairs.”

“I kept hovering over my son’s girlfriend. Getting ready to jump out in front of my son and I kept trying to look up cause I thought, I’m going to die, and I just want to save my son and his girlfriend. They wanted money. I told them to take whatever they wanted.”

The suspects made off with some money and a computer. The woman’s son was pistol whipped by the suspects.

As always, I’d like to point out that we don’t know how a firearm would change things, but we do know it would certainly give the victims more options than just hoping for a good outcome. We’ve certainly seen several of these home invasions turn into homicides, even when the victims cooperate.

Stay safe.

  1. They’re lucky all the robbers took was money and valuables. It could just as easily been another case rape, beatings, or even murder. We, here, know that proper security involves not only locks and cameras, but weapons availability and the knowlege of how to use them.

  2. Heck , I even carry at home , even while inside doing normal everyday activities.
I have gotten so used to having a side arm on me for the past 10 + years that I almost forget i have it on me.

I also have arms inside my home in strategic areas , so if i need one I know where it is

aint the same world it was 5 years ago , and its not getting better anytime soon
