Woman found guilty of murdering husband in murder witnessed by parrot

A woman was found guilty of murdering her husband in a Michigan murder case allegedly witnessed by a parrot.

Glenna Duram shot her husband five times in front of the couple’s pet, an African Grey parrot, back in 2015, before attempting to unsuccessfully commit suicide herself afterwards.

The bird allegedly repeated the words, “Don’t shoot,” in Martin Duram’s voice after the incident, according to Duram’s ex-wife, Christina Keller, who now owns the animal.

The parrot, named Bud, wasn’t used in the court proceedings, but Keller said she thought the bird was repeating a conversation he heard from the night of the murder.

Duram was found guilty of first-degree murder and awaits her sentence next August.

Duram’s mother, Lillian Duram, said it “hurt” to witness her son’s wife stand “emotionless” before the jury as evidence was presented surrounding her son’s murder, local media report.

“It just isn’t good; just isn’t good. Two years is a long time to wait for justice,” she said.

His mother added that she and her husband agree the bird could have possibly overheard her son and his wife arguing and was repeating her son’s final words.

“I personally think he was there, and he remembers it and he was saying it”, Martin Duram’s father told local media at the time.

  1. “Glenna Duram shot her husband five times in front of the couple’s pet, an African Grey parrot,…

The African Grey turned Stool Pigeon?

“… before attempting to unsuccessfully commit suicide herself afterwards.”

How the hell can a suicide be unsuccessful if you have a GUN?????

    1. It’s easier than you might expect to botch a suicide with a handgun. Their lethality is overrated. Handgun bullets in calibers like 9mm and .45 have been known to bounce right off people’s heads, although that’s obviously not common. And even a hit to the brain can sometimes be survivable (e.g., Gabby Giffords).

      1. Granted, pointing the gun to the side of one’s head could cause the round to ricochet, but I’m talking about optimum placement… in the mouth, aimed straight up.

I think the chance of a ricochet in that case would be virtually non-existent.

  2. Wait until the trial.
When they put the parrot on the stand to testify as the prime witness.

Do you swear to tell the parrot truth, the whole truth so help you god.

    The parrot responds…

    Fk no..!
    Rhaaaah..
