Mr Berezovsky, a former ally turned outspoken critic of Vladimir Putin, was found lying dead on the bathroom floor of his Berkshire home on Saturday after the door had been locked from the inside.
The Daily Telegraph has been told that he was wearing his clothes and that there was no blood at the scene. Thames Valley police said yesterday that there was no evidence a “third party” was involved and detectives are questioning his family and friends about his “state of mind” before his death.
However, the wife of former Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko said yesterday that Mr Berezovsky had “many enemies” and that it was “not likely” he that he had committed suicide. Mr Litvinenko, a former KGB agent, was murdered in 2006 after drinking tea which had been poisoned with radioactive polonium-210. An inquest is due to take place later this year.
Interesting connection here. Like I said beofre when I reported Berezovsky’s death that Russian dissidents in london die far too often undr mysterious circumstances for it not to be FSB assassinations. I think the same can be said here and Mrs. Litvinenko agrees, more or less. Berezovsky’s death is currently ‘Unexplained’.-Mort
