U.S. May Give Self-Deported “Dreamers” Asylum

Judicial Watch

After mocking U.S. law, a group of illegal immigrants who self-deported in a publicity stunt will get a crack at asylum because the Obama administration has determined they have a “credible fear of persecution or torture” in their native Mexico.

It would be laughable if it wasn’t so enraging. This new fear of persecution and torture was notably absent a few weeks ago when the group of illegal immigrants, known as the “Dream 9,” voluntarily flew across the border into Mexico to protest the deportations of thousands of their comrades. A group known as National Immigrant Youth Alliance organized and promoted the event and the mainstream media quickly labeled it a “brazen protest.”

But when the cameras left and the “Dream 9” tried to return to the U.S. through the Nogales Arizona port of entry, they were arrested. All had been brought to the U.S. illegally as kids and likely felt untouchable under President Obama’s backdoor amnesty plan, known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). It allows illegal immigrants 30 and younger to remain in the U.S. and obtain work permits if they entered the country as children (“through no fault of their own,” as Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano loves to say).

The Dream 9—five women and four men—have been in federal custody since their July 22 arrest, igniting outrage among the powerful and politically-connected open borders movement. They are being held at a detention center in Eloy, Arizona and their attorney is seeking their release on “humanitarian grounds.”

Asking Obama to intervene, an Illinois congressman at the front of the amnesty movement offers this interesting tidbit in aletter to the president: Under the amnesty bill making its way through Congress, deported illegal immigrants with strong ties to the U.S. can come back. “Their return would likely be allowed under the Senate-passed immigration bill, S. 744, which we all support,” Democrat Luis Gutierrez tells Obama in his letter.

This week a mainstream newspaper reports that most of the Dream 9 will get a chance to argue their case for asylum before an immigration judge. Here is why, according to the story; immigration asylum officers found that seven had credible fear of persecution or torture in their birth country and could therefore not be immediately removed.  Strangely enough, when they voluntarily returned to Mexico a few weeks ago to protest U.S. rule of law, they didn’t seem the least bit scared.

  1. I got to be honest, I don’t know the solution to this problem.
    I have some thoughts.

    1. I would secure the border.
    2. People that are here illegally aren’t getting citizenship, they’re LAW BREAKERS and must be booted back to their country.
    3. Cartel members from Mexico caught in the US, will spend the rest of their lives in jail.
    4. Farmers do NEED labor. (I only know this cause I worked on a 255 Acre Nursery) If such labor is going to be used then it is the Foreigners who must be tracked, NOT AMERICANS. Furthermore if there are Americans willing to take such jobs, then Sorry Mexico.
    5. No National ID card
    6. No Drivers license unless they PASS our state’s test. The drivers license issued must not be the same as an American DL there must be something that say’s MEXICO not United States.
    7. People who are here illegally, have broken the law, they don’t have a right to become a trusted citizen, they are not by definition to be trusted, as they are here ILLEGALLY
    8. Nip this Foreigners serving on Jury crap in the BUD NOW.

I got more but I will leave it there.

  2. As long as our present tyrannical government is left in place to terrorize and oppress us, there will be no end to the wet-back scum slithering over the border.
When our present tyrannical government is no longer in power, the wet-back scum better run south over that border twice as quickly as they ran north.

I want my life back and I want to be able to work for a decent wage for once and not have to see these scum-sucking leeches taking my job for a slave labor wage.

    1. Yea NC. Ya know, I read something some time ago that because they are mostly not registered americans that they do not pay taxes but still elegible for benifits. I heard that if they had to pay state, frderal, and social security that they – for the most part would not like working here in america because it would not be profitable enough for them wetback boarder jumpers.

  4. “But when the cameras left and the “Dream 9” tried to return to the U.S. through the Nogales Arizona port of entry, they were arrested.”

    What’s wrong with this picture?

They allow invaders to cross the border in droves, yet arrest these nine?

    I’m sensing a not-so-obvious agenda here.
