U2’s Bono Warns Existence of UN, EU, NATO ‘Under Threat’

The rock star, well-known for his political activism and philanthropy, gave the dire warning at a New York event which brought together an impressive number of UN diplomats.

Irish rock star Bono gave a speech at a U2 concert at Madison Square Garden in New York, which saw several hundred UN diplomats and staff in New York jump up and down to the band’s hits. The event constituted part of Ireland’s push to win a seat on the UN Security Council in 2021-22.

With or Without EU?

He warned that the United Nations and other international organizations, including the EU and NATO, are threatened. Bono called on the international community to team up to ensure they continue to exist.

Praising the UN, Bono said, “I love that it exists, and I’ll tell you, I don’t take for granted that it exists.”

“… let’s be honest, we live in a time when institutions as vital to human progress as the United Nations are under attack.”

“And not just these institutions but what they stand for — an international order based on shared values and shared rules, an international order that is facing the greatest test in its 70-year history.”

Where the Threats Have no Name

Although Bono did not specify which countries were posing what he called a threat to international institutions, his speech appeared to be clearly aimed at US President Trump.

POTUS has doubled downed his criticism of the European Union amid an ongoing trade spat with Washington’s transatlantic allies, sparked by the US’ unilateral move to hit Europe with steel and aluminum tariffs.

Trump has also been criticizing his NATO allies, urging them to beef up defense spending.

The Trump administration has also pulled the United States out of the Paris climate accord, claiming that the deal was undermining the national economy.

On Monday, the US president issued a vague threat to the World Trade Organization, warning that “we’ll be doing something” if the WTO doesn’t change what he called its “bad treatment” of the US.

Bono is the co-founder of and spokesman for the ONE campaign, and international anti-poverty NGO. He has been a vocal critic of Donald Trump’s agenda, blasting recent family separations at the US border, part of Trump’s crackdown on immigrants, as the most “un-American thing.”

  1. We really don’t need the uninformed opinion of another rock star, movie star, or any of these freaks who’ve become famous because of their willingness to support the communist agenda.

These “celebrities” NEVER know what they’re talking about, because they’ve spent zero hours studying politics and/or history. They’re just trotted out on the stage to play a part because sleeping with dirt bags like Weinstein has earned them name recognition, and the TV-brainwashed idiots think they’re “special” for unknown reasons.

As soon as this moron is done spouting his idiocy to any crowd who’ll listen, it’s back to the booze and cocaine.

And just look at what happens to any “celebrity” who refuses to support the commie agenda. They’re out of work and reduced to poverty until they agree to be good commies. Their opinions are completely WORTHLESS to anyone but a brainwashed moron.

I don’t give a rat’s ass what Bono the bone-head thinks, because if he knew what the hell he was talking about, he wouldn’t be praising the Zionist-controlled U.N.

      1. I take advantage of any opportunity to expose him. I would ignore him, but sadly he has a big influence on the young. They buy his music, helping to make his current net worth $700 million. I bet it’s even more.

Ha! Just realized that rock n’ roll idols create a kind of Stockholm Syndrome: worship me while I steal your money and your mind. Scream for me, yearn for me, adore me, trust me, I have answers, can point the direction. FOLLOW ME!!

Oh well, I sure spent a lot of my own years as such a captive. Geez!

    1. Yep. if he was a Brit he’d be knighted by the f****** whore of Babylon (according to one of my book characters, that is!)

  2. You just know I have to comment when this insult to rock stardom and rock music does anything Bono style…. How any decent lover of rock can follow and buy tickets for U2 is beyond me! Just retire already!

  3. You people r killin me.

Yeah I used to watch him on tv as the clown when I was a child.

But I heard that in personal life…

Outside of being a clown on tv.

He was a raging alcoholic and a real dik around children off camera.
