American flags on Nike shoes? NO; American flags in the Hong Kong protests? YES

Madness Hub

Oh, man . . . what a smart move. The images of Chinese cops, thugs and military going after Hong Kong protesters holding American flags will not play well here:

The American flag: Too controversial for Nike, but perfect for Hong Kong?

And here’s one of the flag-waving protesters telling Bloomberg about it:

“We hope the U.S. and other nations will be able to help Hong Kong fight against Communist China’s policies. We need human rights, democracy and freedom. These are the same values we share with the U.S.”

Wow. Maybe Nike should sell those Betsy Ross shoes in Hong Kong?

  1. “We hope the U.S. and other nations will be able to help Hong Kong fight against Communist China’s policies. We need human rights, democracy and freedom. These are the same values we share with the U.S.”

Not easy to understand this whole thing. We just don’t know all the angles. Is there any big money behind it, or is it a genuine call for independence? And in its quest for “freedom” can Hong Kong avoid the pitfalls of cabal capitalism, the variety that has turned us into a corporation? And could they not understand what the American flag now symbolizes around the world, because of the suffering that transpired under its waving? And could they also not understand that America has been overtaken by Israel? I’ve so many questions.

Well, if they can stay with the “human rights” quest, which really is The Bill of Rights, and ditch the “democracy” angle, they might be able to join the global effort for freedom. Regardless, you can hear the cry all over the world. No one wants to be a slave anymore. You can hear the cry.

  2. Food for thought, worth revisiting:

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: from bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to selfishness; from selfishness to apathy; from apathy to dependence; from dependence back into bondage.”
    — Alexander Fraser Tytler, 1747 – 1813
