The home of a woman who accused Senate candidate Roy Moore of sexual harassment has burned down in what is being investigated as a possible arson attack.
Tina Johnson, who alleged in November that Moore groped her in his office in 1991, said Friday that her house in Gadsden, Alabama had burned down on Tuesday morning. The Knesset approved in a preliminary vote a bill that would make it easier for military courts to sentence terrorists to death, in a close vote of 52-49, following hours of coalition infighting on Wednesday.

The Israeli PM has advocated regime change in Iran, saying that if the Tehran government collapses, Israelis and Iranians will be “great friends.” He then ridiculed Iran’s claim that foreign players were behind recent protests.

Gary Busby has been ordered to report to the federal Bureau of Prisons to start a six and a half year sentence on March 8, 2018. He is 65 years old. He was convicted of one count of dealing in firearms without a license, and four counts of structuring financial transactions to evade reporting requirements. The press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas says the firearms charge was for conspiracy to illegally manufacture firearms. The description of the crimes appears to be illegally selling firearms, not manufacturing them. The rifle-toting man who gunned down a Colorado deputy in a New Year’s Eve “ambush-style” attack had ranted about the sheriff and a local police officer in recent online posts discovered after the assault.
Matthew Riehl, 37, fired more than 100 rounds as he was holed up in a bedroom in his apartment in Highlands Ranch, before he too was found dead at the scene. Happy New Year, America! Somehow, we all survived 2017 and we’re still breathing. America hasn’t been shattered yet, North Korea hasn’t yet nuked us and Baltimore still has at least a few citizens who aren’t heroin addicts. The dollar hasn’t collapsed and neither has the stock market. Heck, even Bitcoin is still over $12,000 right now… at least for the moment.
So drink up and party down while you still can. You’ll want to sober up quickly so that you can face 2018 with a degree of seriousness, because a lot of the craziness that didn’t quite bubble to the surface is 2017 is now primed for a 2018 eruption. Among the economic threats are stock, bond, and real estate markets artificially pumped up by years of central bank money creation and by false reports of full employment. It is an open question whether participants in these markets are aware that underlying reality does not support the asset values. Central banks support stock markets not only with abundant liquidity but also with direct stock purchases. The Japanese central bank is now one of the largest owners of Japanese equities. Apple apologized to customers for deliberately slowing down older iPhones as their batteries age, in a letter it released on Thursday.
“We know that some of you feel Apple has let you down. The Trump admin is now facing legal challenges demanding the release of details related to the secret kill list and rules which allow for the assassination of American citizens.
On December 22 the American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration in an attempt to force the release of newly established rules related to the U.S. military’s secret program of killing. The program was established during the Obama Administration and now expanded under Donald Trump. Recent reports from the New York Times(1, 2) allude to the fact that the Trump administration is loosening the already flimsy protections established by the Obama admin. One month after we reported that Israel would take the unprecedented step of sharing intelligence with Saudi Arabia as the two countries ramped up efforts to curb what they perceive as “Iranian expansion” in the region, on Thursday Israel’s Channel 10 reported that Israel has also pivoted to the US and reached a similar plan to counter Iranian activity in the Middle East. As Axios adds, U.S. and Israeli officials said the joint understandings were reached in “a secret meeting” between senior Israeli and U.S. delegations at the White House on December 12th. BEIJING — President Xi Jinping continues to strengthen his grip on power as China’s absolute leader, putting the country’s armed police force under his thumb in his latest move.
The Communist Party of China has decided to consolidate control over the People’s Armed Police at the Central Military Commission, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported Wednesday.
