Bomb hoaxes on campuses expose America’s police state and the exploitation of terrorism

The spate of campuswide lockdowns has drawn attention to the practice, which security officials say they increasingly rely on.

“I don’t think there’s any greater level of danger, but our response to it is much different than it used to be,” Northeastern University criminology professor James Alan Fox said.  

College police chiefs note that federal law requires them to promptly notify campuses of possible threats, sometimes before investigators have time to learn whether the threats are credible.

The Clery Act, originally passed in 1990, requires colleges and universities participating in federal financial aid programs to track and report crimes on and near campus. Penalties include up to $35,000 per violation and suspension of the school’s federal financial aid programs. (Exposed: it’s not about terrorism it’s about money, what a surprise)

The public & students are being conditioned to accept being forcibly locked into a building or residence under the guise of “Shelter-in-Place“.  (The shelter-in-place is B/S and just another excuse to take away our rights)

The seeming surge of lockdowns over the last year may be amplified by social media.

Glavin, who until recently was also president of the International Assn. of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators, added: “When those things start to hit, and you use Facebook and Twitter and all of that, it’s out there, and everybody and their brother and the press and the whole world knows it.”(Using social media to fan the flames of terrorism, so universities don’t lose any money & justify keeping their military equipment. That’s the real message)

Recent examples of conditioning the public to accept lockdowns:

A bomb threat that sent four facilities at Harvard University into emergency evacuation mode was due to a prankster who wanted to avoid final exams.

Harvard university in Cambridge, Mass., began final testing this week — and about 9:30 a.m. EST, officials sent out a tweet advising they were investigating the presence of explosives on the campus and were evacuating four buildings.

Police in their tweet said that “out of an abundance of caution, the buildings have been evacuated while the report is investigated,” The Associated Press reported.

The American University in Washington was locked down while police sought a supposed gunman — who turned out to be an off-duty police officer.

In early November, SWAT teams searched Central Connecticut State University for a masked man with a gun and a sword. He turned out to be a student in a Halloween costume, and he was charged with a misdemeanor.

Officials at Yale University locked down their campus in conjunction with the local law enforcement when reports of a gunman surfaced.

From a pay phone off campus an anonymous caller stated that his roommate was “heading toward campus with a gun” and the intention to shoot people.

This is the story given to the press by Officer David Hartman, spokesman for the New Haven Police Department (NHPD).

On Twitter, messages alerted campus residents and students that there was an “unconfirmed report of a person on campus w/ a gun. Please stay indoors.”

The full-on confirmation brought together campus law enforcement, as well as:
 
• NHPD
• Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)
• Connecticut Department of Homeland Security (CDHS) 
• Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) 
• Department of Homeland Security (DHS)

Ask yourself  why would so many alphabet soup agencies show up? 

You’d swear we’re at war but we’re not! 

It’s a ruse to steal our rights and justify their existence to a fearful public.

University of Texas Police Chief Robert Dahlstrom said that an estimated 69,000 users were notified by the online alter system which directed them to evacuate the campus. Dahlstrom explained that university officials also sounded the on-campus alarm to warn others as well as sent messages through email and Facebook.

Students were warned to “get as far away as possible.”

Following the threat in Texas, reports originating in North Dakota stated that students attending  North Dakota State University (NDSU) in Fargo were advised to evacuate the campus due to a call-in bomb threat after a posting on the NDSU website that read: “NDSU is requiring all employees and students to leave campus by 10:15 a.m. This includes residence hall students, who, if necessary, should walk to locations off campus. This also includes the downtown buildings and agricultural facilities. NDSU received a bomb threat, prompting this evacuation. Updates will follow.”

At 11:41 am students were required to vacate the campus in an orderly fashion and meet at locations off the university grounds.

The next university to receive a threat was Valparaiso University in Indiana where an anonymous graggiti message last week produced “an unspecified threat . . . alluding to dangerous and criminal activity” to be carried out during the chapel break on Friday.”

Students were advised to watch for “suspicious behavior and report to the VUPD immediately” so that local law enforcement and the FBI could not only investigate the indiscriminate threat, but find the supposed “terrorists”.

Colleges openly encourage students to SPY on Americans under the guise of keeping us safe. 

This is what America has become!

The former Stasi, KGB and the Chinese People’s Armed Police (PAP) pale in comparison to the level of fear & spying happening in the U.S.

History shows that mass spying is always focused on crushing dissent… not on keeping us safe.

High-level American government officials have warned for 40 years that mass surveillance would lead to tyranny.   They’ve warned that the government is using information gained through mass surveillance in order to go after anyone they take a dislike to.

A lieutenant colonel for the Stasi East German’s – based upon his experience – agrees. And German Chancellor Angela Merkel – who grew up in Stasi Germany – says the NSA is exactly the same.  Indeed, top American constitutional experts say that the Obama and Bush administration are not onlyworse than Nixon … but worse than the Stasi East Germans.

They also say that government spying is exactly the type of oppression that the Founding Fathers launched the Revolutionary War to stop.

Campus police shouldn’t have police powers beyond their campuses:

Campus police around the country are increasingly expanding their jurisdiction beyond the school and into the surrounding neighborhoods, blurring a town-gown divide that colleges say is arbitrary when it comes to crime. Proponents say the arrangement allows schools to keep closer tabs on students who misbehave off-campus – making it easier to refer them for disciplinary proceedings, if necessary – and gives university officers greater flexibility to investigate campus crimes committed by community members. It can also ease the workload of resource-strapped municipal police departments.

A proposed expansion of authority has stirred concerns in Washington, D.C., where residents say university police don’t have the same level of training or transparency requirements as the city police. Campus police officers in the city have arrest powers on campus but participate in a separate, shorter training academy.

Private colleges generally aren’t compelled by public records law to release the same information as public institutions and government agencies, we should be concerned about the lack of accountability.

“If one of their policemen acted inappropriately, there would be hardly any recourse. We’d have no information, no follow-up,” said Ken Durham, a longtime resident of Foggy Bottom, the neighborhood that encompasses George Washington University, part of a consortium of schools mulling broader authority for their police.

Added Marina Streznewski, president of the Foggy Bottom Association, “Expanding the police powers of a university police force without some kind of clear and transparent mechanism is a really bad idea.”

It’s not uncommon for campus police to have mutual aid agreements governing their relationship with local law enforcement, laying out the geographic boundaries of their authority and the circumstances under which they can make off-campus arrests.

But some universities are hiring additional officers to cover extra off-campus ground themselves. The primary purpose is to respond to complaints from or about off-campus students, but in many cases the officers hold the same law enforcement authority as municipal police and can arrest people, such as drunk drivers near campus, with no university affiliation.

Tulane University recently expanded police jurisdiction to a one-mile perimeter beyond campus and its officers share a radio system with New Orleans police and participate in joint strategy sessions.

In Washington, a consortium of schools is contemplating giving campus police broader geographic authority. A proposal under consideration would extend university police jurisdiction to streets running through campus and to the sidewalk across the street from campus. Those boundaries would conform to the campus definition in the Clery Act, which requires schools to provide crime statistics for the area on and around campus.

“It is the thinking of our police chiefs that, right now, we report that activity as a crime on campus but we’re not empowered to intercede,” said Sally Kram, spokeswoman for the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area.

Though the proposal would give campus police responsibility for a broader swath of territory, Kram said there’s been no discussion about seeking arrest authority off campus. Campus police are legally hamstrung now from making off-campus arrests, except when they’re in active pursuit of a suspect for a crime that originated on campus,

D.C. Council Chairman Phil Mendelson is non-committal, saying while he understands university officers want authority to respond to off-campus complaints, he’s concerned they don’t have the same level of training on issues like mental health crises and use-of-force.
