Bottled water wreaking havoc with our bodies

The Tap

Several companies have stopped using BPA in plastic production due to consumer outrage, but just because a plastic container says it is “BPA Free” doesn’t mean it’s free of potentially harmful chemicals. As a matter of fact, recent research out of Germany indicates there are more than 24,000 of such chemicals in any given bottle of water—with some of them causing serious hormone-disrupting effects.

According to the story from Goethe University Frankfort, the researchers tested 18 different bottled water products in an effort to look for endocrine disrupting chemicals, or EDCs. They found far more than expected, identifying 24,520 different chemicals in their testing. After isolating the chemicals and determining their impact on the body, the researchers narrowed down those with anti-estrogenic properties to one: DEHF or di(2-ethylhexyl) fumarate. This finding was of major concern.

Out of the 18 different bottled water products, 13 had “significant” anti-estrogenic activity, and 16 out of 18 inhibited the body’s androgen receptors by 90%. In other words, the bottled water was largely wrecking havoc on the human body.

TAP – the only good water is fresh filtered water, down to half a micron, unless you live in a blessed part of the world where pollution never yet happened.

  1. Hey #1 good piece. I have been filtering all our drinking drinking water with a berkey gravity fed unit, with pre and post filtration in order to remove as much poison as possible.

    1. For some time I had thought that BPA was the only bad thing about bottled water. Obviously not.

On top of that, most bottled water has fluoride added now, too.

      1. yes the main reason i started filtering our drinking water years ago is because of the fluoride in our water, and the negative effects on my wife’s thyroid. since then i have discovered other reasons for filtering. there are all kinds of poisons in faucet water.

        1. How do you filter out the fluoride? I thought you can only filter it with reverse osmosis or something? What filters can do that?

          1. Hey NC after looking for a gravity fed unit for some time i discovered this product.

there are other products out there including reverse osmosis. However this unit fills the needs i have for what i wanted to do. the charcoal pre filter filters the larger ppm, and the post filter filters smaller ppm’s, including fluoride, thus doing the same thing reverse cosmoses does. go to above listed link, and it will explain all that to you. the filters last a long time depending on how much stuff is filtered out. i replaced mine in 2 years. filters, both pre and post are under 100.00 depending on how many you buy. i use two of each.

          2. Looks good and does filter out some of the fluoride. Wish it was a bit cheaper though. Ugh! $289 with the fluoride filters is a hefty price. $150 and I’d take it. Otherwise, I can’t afford it right now. Oh well. I’ll save the link for future use.

          3. yes i was the same way. i kept watching and finally found it on sale at amazan for a little less. I know its high but from what i have experienced it is worth it. once ya get over that initial expense your o.k. kinda like buying a car. huh

  2. Hey my pleasure. I am thinking about getting another set of filters for back up. I originally read about it on mercola.com years ago. He is a medical doctor who has good knowledge of alternative medicine.
