Speaking of foxes, the foxhound breed was created by interbreeding with foxes, which are canids as are dogs, down through the years, until the fox-dog hybrid was a lot more dog than fox. I suspect foxhounds were created precisely so foxes wouldn’t freak out when foxhounds were coming for them, seeing as how foxhounds are part fox, plus it allows foxhounds more easily to round up foxes.
We have plenty of foxes out here, and could use a few foxhounds… As well as coyotes. Either one took out my sweet cat, Sassy, several years ago. Sassy was quite a mouser.
