Hackers take down key Israeli websites

Hackers have taken down key Israeli websites in retaliation for the ongoing atrocities in the Gaza Strip.

The military, Bank of Israel, and the prime minister’s office have been the target of attacks by the group known as Anonymous. Other targets included the ministry of finance, the Israeli embassy in the United States, the Central Bureau of Statistics and the Immigration Department. Anonymous has been targeting Israeli installations since Tel Aviv launched its deadly offensive in Gaza. The campaign intensified after Israeli forces shot dead a Palestinian, wearing a Guy Fawkes mask, which is a symbol of Anonymous. Israeli officials say the military and the intelligence agency have managed to foil the cyber attacks. But reports suggest many of the websites remained down hours after the news was made public.
