WILLSBORO, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say they’re resuming searches of northern New York homes located near the maximum-security prison where two killers escaped using power tools.

State Police say the fifth day of searching will include going from house to house in Dannemora, where David Sweat and Richard Matt cut their way out of Clinton Correctional Facility.

Troopers say the house searches aren’t the result of any new leads.

Law enforcement officials also renewed their plea for the public’s help in reporting anything unusual in the area since the prison break, which was discovered early Saturday.

A search Tuesday in a rural town about 30 miles from the prison turned up no sign of the convicts. The search was prompted by reports of two men seen walked along a road in Willsboro.

  1. I may have “missed the boat” on this story (among others), as I’ve been preoccupied and not exactly well… but I get the feeling that this deal here is just the latest “Eric Frein” like event. (just more police-state B/S)

I doubt that I am alone in that assessment.

  2. Update: Soon the police across the US will be searching your homes, for someone that will escape from prison.

No once escaped, these are sitting on a beach in south FL.

  3. Perhaps these goons are simply testing the waters to assess the ease of entering homes, “Sure come on in, and hope you find these bad guys, or heck no, where’s the warrant, or heck no, with or without a warrant you will not come upon my property nor enter my home.” The refusers will be put on a not so nice list for future thrashings.

  4. Testing each and everyone in that area ,, next will be your AO..

whats it going to be ,, play along or wake up calls ?
