Italian police have arrested a nurse suspected of killing at least 38 of her patients because they, or their relatives, were irritating her. The officials also found a selfie, with the nurse giving a thumbs-up in front of a recently deceased patient.

Daniela Poggiali, 42, a hospital nurse was arrested in her native town of Lugo in the northern Italian region of Emilia-Romagna, a province of Ravenna, reported Corriere della Sera, an Italian daily newspaper.

The police suspect her of the murder of an elderly patient, Rosa Calderoni, 78, who was taken to hospital with a routine illness. Tests showed that Calderoni died of an injection of potassium chloride, a medical substance, which can trigger cardiac arrest.

Potassium leaves no traces in the patient’s bloodstream after a few days and it makes it more difficult to investigate the case, the prosecutors told Corriere della Sera.

The investigation revealed that the nurse was not only culpable of Calderoni’s death but also the deaths of at least 38 patients. All of them were reportedly murdered in 2014. At least 200 witnesses gave testimonies against ‘the worst nurse.’

Police officers also found a scandalous selfie of the nurse smiling and giving a thumbs-up in front of a recently deceased patient, Chief Prosecutor Alessandro Mancini told a press conference.

“I can assure you in that in all my professional years of seeing shocking photos, there were few such as these,” added Manchini, adding that the nurse was “unperturbed” during her arrest.

“When we went to arrest her, she was silent, impassive,” he said.

One of the nurse’s colleague spoke of her as a “cold person but always eager to work.”

Other medical personnel at the hospital added that they suspected her of giving the patients doses of laxatives, drugs that facilitate or increase bowel movements, at the end of her shift. They said Poggiali did this to annoy and embarrass them.

“We wondered whether these deaths could be so frequent without anyone doing anything,” a co-worker told Corriere della Sera.

  1. As a result of doing their jobs. doctors and nurses become immured to death and suffering, and this makes it a lot easier for them to knock people off.

When you deal with death and dying everyday, what’s another corpse on the pile?

The Hippocratic oath begins with “first, do no harm”, as a reminder to these sick bastards that they’re not supposed to run around killing people.

And for the same reason many people become cops, many in the healthcare business seek out their career because they tend to harbor the sadistic characteristics which induce people to exercise power and control over others.

    1. I’m sure that this happens more frequently in Retirement Community Centers.

However, it isn’t always just a case of the nurse doing unauthorized euthanasia; sometimes the nurse will be paid under the table to commit it. The family members cannot wait for Dad or Mom to die naturally because they need the money now and they see the hospital eroding every last nickle and dime in their parents’ estate.

Normally, no one will question the death of a hospitalized, 78-year-old, heart attack victim. It was Rosa’s time… just let her go and move on.
In the near future, I fully expect the Fed to authorize euthanasia, whether the elderly patient wants it or not.

  2. There was a nurse in UK in the 60’s who worked with infants who
were admitted into the hosp. she worked for minor illnesses.
The nurse was killing the infants with insulin; went on for a couple of yrs.
Reason unknown. The end of the report asks: was she born that way
or was she made that way? The experts decided she was made that
    way d/t dysfunctional family life.

  3. My mother just this last year was murdered by willful malpractice. An Attorney friend stated after knowing all the proof and facts, the insurance companies and their lawyers have already destroyed any hope of getting justice as they will just tie it up in court with delays for many years then say she [ being 99 years old ] was old anyway and may not have lived much longer. It will end with little more than the court doing nothing in the end and your expense will destroy your monetary situation.
