Man shot, killed by deputy after dispute over cab fare

DELTONA, Fla. —Authorities said a dispute over a cab fare led to a fatal deputy-involved shooting in Deltona on Monday evening.

It happened near Maldive Court around 7:30 p.m.

According to Volusia County Sheriff Ben Johnson, the cab driver called authorities to report the initial incident.

The cab driver told deputies the passenger tried to pay with a credit card and when that did not work, the man walked inside a home nearby. Deputies went to the scene and knocked on the door of the home. According to the sheriff’s office, the man pulled a gun out and pointed it at the deputy. When the man did not put the gun down, the deputy fired his weapon.

“The man was threatening him with the firearm. They challenged the individual. They told him to put the gun down. He did not put it down. Their lives were in danger, at which time they fired on this individual. You pull a gun on a cop and don’t drop it, bad things are going to happen,” Sheriff Johnson said.

The man, identified as Robert Teter, 39, was flown to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The deputy, who has not been identified, has been put on administrative leave, pending the investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

  1. No video, no proof, no nothing… Just another dead man by cop.

Let’s turn the story around and what do you think would’ve happened? I call bullshit on the story because normally when you pull a gun you use it .

  2. “You pull a gun on a cop and don’t drop it, bad things are going to happen,” Sheriff Johnson said.”

Bad things SHOULD happen to the PIGS, if the gun is drawn on them first.

Bad for THEM, not for us.
