WASHINGTON – Emergency crews are at the scene of what D.C. Fire and EMS is calling a “catastrophic collapse” of a four-story parking garage at The Watergate.

D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Tim Wilson says the structure collapsed around 10 a.m. The collapse may be construction-related, according to Wilson.

D.C. Fire and EMS sources also told FOX 5 one car had been completely crushed.

One injury was reported, but that person’s injuries are said to be minor.

Virginia Avenue is closed in the area as a result of the emergency activity, and some evacuations have been ordered.

FOX 5’s Tom Fitzgerald reports some employees who work inside the Watergate said they have been complaining about structural rumblings in the building for roughly four months.
