Police: Man hurt in shooting outside synagogue near Miami

ABC News

Police say someone got out of a car and opened fire on a 68-year-old man who was approaching a synagogue near Miami.

Miami-Dade police detective Alvaro Zabaleta tells news outlets someone got out of a black Chevrolet Impala around 6:30 p.m. Sunday and shot the man multiple times in the legs near the front door of the Young Israel of Greater Miami Temple. The victim was taken to Aventura Hospital where he underwent surgery and is in stable condition.

WSVN reports the car had circled the temple several times as the victim walked toward the building. WPLG reports a volunteer with Hatzolah, a non-profit emergency medical service organization that services Jewish communities, was at the synagogue and helped the victim.

Police are investigating.

  1. California, New York, Florida. More specifically, Gilroy, Brooklyn, Miami. Big ‘shoot ’em up’ week.

I’m sorry for the suffering of whoever may have been harmed or died (not all is yet proven or disproven) but I am suffering, too, for I know the fight to disarm us will become more and more fierce. All I can do is become more fierce myself, as well as practice and prepare.

Remember when summer used to be a time of such joy, such abandon, where cares seemed to just wash away? I want summer back.

    🙁

“… the car had circled the temple several times as the victim walked toward the building.”

    Sounds like a warning.
