LOUISVILLE, KY — Beverage control enforcers performed a surprise raid on a popular dive bar, detained dozens of people and forced them all to endure warrantless searches before being allowed to leave.

The incident occurred on September 10th, 2014. It was an otherwise uneventful Tuesday at Cahoots, a tavern located on Bardstown Road, when officers swarmed into the establishment around 2:00 a.m.

The front and back doors were immediately locked, effectively depriving dozens of occupants of the ability to freely leave.

“Now a show of hands,” an officer announced. “Who’s got something on them they shouldn’t have? No one?”

Police began systematically searching each patron individually for contraband, without any probable cause or a warrant.

“We’re going to start over here in this corner,” the apparent leader said. “We’re going to work our way around, and if we go by, if you’re clean, you get to go out the front door.”

“Wow, is this for real?” one customer asked in disbelief.

Another customer filmed the incident with a cell phone. View it below:

Responding to someone about civil rights, an officer barked, “You have the right to shut up.”

Reportedly, the justification for the raid was an alleged violation of the bar’s liquor license.

Participating in the raid were both the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) and the Louisville Metro division of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC).

“It looks like police gone wild,” witness Kameran Kerelaj told WAVE-3 News. “They’re searching them, they’re not asking for permission, they’re not letting them leave.”

Civil rights advocates have decried the tactics. Was it a few rogue officers breaking from standard operating procedures? So far the departments are remaining mum.

The veracity of the discipline (or lack thereof) will proportionately reflect the state and metro agencies’ commitment to protecting the civilian right to privacy. So far no officer has been disciplined, terminated, or criminally charged for the appalling mass violation of rights in Louisville.

  1. Seriously? Two cops and you don’t even know if they are real cops and they are against 20 or so occupants and you are submitting to them?

WTF IS WRONG WITH THE PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY???!!! WAKE THE HELL UP! 😡

FIGHT BACK!! SAY NO!! KICK THE SHIT OUT OF THEM!! 😡

Man, these people are F**KING STUPID!

And I’m so sick of seeing a cop flash their flashlight at a person recording. If I we’re the people, I’d carry my own small high intensity flashlight with me, so that if they flash their lights on me, I’d do the same to them while recording and see how they like it.

    1. Well it isn’t exactly a biker bar either. It looks like the beginning of a new revenue generation scheme. They aren’t waiting around for the DUIs because they want a larger pay off. When they don’t find anything in these yuppie bars or coffee shops or any other low threat high net fishing spots they will just start planting Tylenol on them, say it’s something else and railroad them through the system for the money.

  2. That’s just crazy. Obviously or maybe not, this female driver had to know that she wasn’t going to be able to evade he police her agile vehicle. I see this in a kind of cat seeking mouse episode. But this is someone driving a 2 ton vehicle at high speeds in some type of disney land hope of actually getting away? While in reality, posing a real threat of crashing into somebody else wherein most likely no body in her vehicle would be able to walk away uninjured. I know all about that she hadn’t done any injury to a party. But, based upon the situation offered to her, she should have signed the ticket on gone on her way. He wasn’t even citing her for her license being expired!!!! I mean. Come on here. Talk about bending over backwards to be fair. What she did, could have killed her those in her car who obviously have no respect for some of the good officers out there trying to serve and protect but due to what was seen here, her idiotic behavior was insane and a danger to everybody else on the road.

      1. Thanks. I didn’t want to be the first to say anything. 😆

Actually, he probably post this comment on the wrong article.

  3. I don’t buy this, seen many fakes lately, tptb are trying to drive a wedge between law enforcement and the public.
