Police shoot, kill man who fired rifle at police helicopter and officers

AZ Central – by Josiah Destin and Robert Gundran

Police shot and killed a Cave Creek man Sunday who officers said fired his rifle at a police helicopter and then at officers on the ground.

Nicholas Johnston, 47, was shot by officers in the front yard of a home near Cave Creek Road and Desert Willow Parkway at about 10 a.m.

  1. “Court records show Johnston pleaded guilty in April 2013 to aggravated drunk driving. Records show it was his third DUI. He served four months in prison, records show.”

Drunks & guns – bad combination.

Now, had he been a TWEAKER (much as I abhor them), we could just as easily be reading about dead or wounded pigs.

  2. Contrary to what many think, just having a gun doesn’t mean you’re armed. Many thousands of rounds of practice are necessary, and not just until you get it right, but until you can’t do it wrong.

Also, if you’re going to shoot, do it from behind cover.

  3. I have a hole in my trailer floor.

That proves drinking and weapons don’t mix.

But it sure in the hell is fun.

    1. LOL. I got a hole in my floor, too.
Never picked up a pistol while I was drinking since that night.
Two inches away from putting a hole in my foot.
I blame the vodka for not shooting myself in the foot.
I was so drunk there was no way I could actually hit anything.
      Cept the floor.

  4. There are plenty of times here in the Phoenix area that the damned helicoptors make it seem like Saigon. I hate those damned things. There’s been many times I have wished I could drop one of ’em.
