Seattle Just Passed a Law that Allows them to TAX the 2nd Amendment

The Liberals are literally going crazy.

I kid you not.

The latest example comes to us from Seattle, Washington where the good little socialists elected themselves a fascist mayor. Mayor Ed Murray (D-WA) was elected to the job in 2014 and has since taken it upon himself to strip Seattle’s citizens of their right to defend themselves. In fact, the effort didn’t start after his election as Mayor — it began earlier during his time in the Washington State Senate.

Back in 2013, Murray, as a state Senator, pushed for passage of a law that would have allowed police in the state to “conduct an inspection” of the homes and/or private property of any legal semi-automatic gun owners once a year.

Responding to the Newtown school massacre, the bill would ban the sale of semi-automatic weapons that use detachable ammunition magazines. Clips that contain more than 10 rounds would be illegal.

But then, with respect to the thousands of weapons like that already owned by Washington residents, the bill says this:

Gun Taxes 2“In order to continue to possess an assault weapon that was legally possessed on the effective date of this section, the person possessing shall … safely and securely store the assault weapon. The sheriff of the county may, no more than once per year, conduct an inspection to ensure compliance with this subsection.”

In other words, come into homes without a warrant to poke around. Failure to comply could get you up to a year in jail.

Later in the Seattle Times article Murray demurs and says that he didn’t even know that language was in the bill (that he was the primary sponsor of):

The prime sponsor, Sen. Ed Murray, D-Seattle, also condemned the search provision in his own bill, after I asked him about it. He said Palmer is right that it’s probably unconstitutional.

“I have to admit that shouldn’t be in there,” Murray said.

He said he came to realize that an assault-weapons ban has little chance of passing this year anyway. So he put in this bill more as “a general statement, as a guiding light of where we need to go.” Without sweating all the details.

This is who Ed Murray is, folks. He is a fascist in sheep’s clothing, always searching for new and creative ways to destroy the flock of innocent (and gullible) Seattle citizens.

Gun TaxesSo it should come to no surprise to us that as Mayor of Seattle he has found a new and creative way to strip Seattle’s citizens of their inalienable rights. How has he done it? He convinced a judge that the government should be free to tax our rights.

Seriously.

A judge upheld Seattle’s so-called gun violence tax Tuesday, rejecting a challenge from the National Rifle Association and other gun rights groups…

The measure — one of only a few of its kind in the nation — adds $25 to the price of each firearm sold in the city, plus 2 or 5 cents per round of ammunition, depending on the type…

“The NRA and its allies always oppose these common sense steps to shine light on the gun violence epidemic,” said City Council President Tim Burgess, who sponsored the law. “Judge Robinson saw through the NRA’s distorted efforts to put gun industry profits ahead of public safety.”

Don’t be fooled here, folks. This is not a “gun violence” tax. Do you know of any criminals who legally purchase the weapons that they later use for crimes? Of course not. This is not a “gun violence” tax, this is a 2nd Amendment tax.

This latest liberal assault on the 2nd Amendment is a blatant and disgusting assault on our God-given right to self-defense, and we need to recognize it as such.

  1. Naturally they pass this crap at the very time Seattle folks are too damned concerned about the stinkin’ Seattle Seahawks to give a crap that their rights are being stolen…and no, I am no 49ers fan either! (The NFL can screw itself!)

  2. I bet after a few visits where red dots started poping up all over their gear , they’d be rethinking this

I am not your subject , you are not my king
