Between 2001 and 2006, the United Nations Human Rights Council sanctioned Israel more than any other nation on the planet. According to the Israeli Newspaper Hareetz, Israel has broken more UN resolutions than any other country in history. A shocking statistic considering that the US vetoes most resolutions unfavorable to Israel. In 1975, the UN passed resolution 3379 (by a vote of 72-35 with 32 abstentions) which declared that the entire premise behind the foundation of Israel: Zionism, is actually racism and racial discrimination. Although this resolution was later repealed due to international pressure from the US, it has proven to be factually accurate as Israel has turned into what Nobel Peace Prize winners Jimmy Carter and Bishop Desmond Tutu deem an apartheid state.  

Institutionalized Racism

When black African Jews returned to Israel in 1969 under the Right of Return Act, the government ruled that they were not real Jews and therefore did not qualify for citizenship or any legal status. The black Hebrews were also denied state benefits and work permits. It wasn’t until 2003 that black Hebrews were granted permanent residency, but not the automatic citizenship granted to all other races returning on the exact same provision. If it wasn’t for a group of Americans who shamed the Israeli government into granting black African Jews some legal status, they would probably never have received it. To this day black Jews are still not accepted by the Jewish community in Israel. Racial slurs, insults, and discrimination in housing rentals are commonplace. This treatment has reached such an unbearable level that Ethiopian Jews have taken to the streets to protest. In response, Sofa Landver, the Israeli Immigrant Absorption Minister, smugly replied that they should be grateful for all that Israel has done for them. This is reminiscent of white supremacist rhetoric in the America, which claims that Africans should be grateful their ancestors were brought to America. Israel was clearly created under the premise of future safety for all Jews, not just white European Jews. Therefore, black African Jews should have the same rights and entitlements to Israel as any other Jews.

The Israeli government has even been caught attempting to sterilize Ethiopian Jews by giving them the controversial birth control Depo-Provera, without warning them of the potential side effects. Ethiopian Jews are less than 1% of Israel’s population, but yet account for 60% of the women on Depo-Provera. The side effects are quite severe, including pain in the hands and back, heavy bleeding, and in some cases permanent sterilization. Around 10% of the women taking this drug develop substantial side effects. In 2004, the FDA warned against the dangers of the drugs. Unfortunately, many Ethiopian Jews fear being deported if they speak up about these types of human rights abuses.

In an effort to “preserve the Jewish character of the country,” Israel began planning to deport immigrant workers and their children in 2010; even in cases where the children were born in Israel, speak Hebrew, and have spent their entire lives as Israeli residents. In 2012, Israeli Interior Minister Eli Yishai deported hundreds of black families from Israel to Sudan for not being Jewish, despite universal opposition from human rights groups. Many of the deported children had been born and raised in Israel and spoke fluent Hebrew. The Israeli government decided not to ship the deportees’ belongings with them back to Sudan, and instead left the refugees’ possessions to sit around in a warehouse for months while Israeli immigration officials were reported to have stolen what few valuable possessions were contained within. A week after the deportation, many of the refugee children began to die due to disease, in large part because their medicine was held back with their luggage in Israel.

The association for Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI) took a poll in 2007 which found that 66% of Israeli teens believe Arabs are less intelligent, uncultured, and violent. Fifty percent of the Israelis taking the poll said they would not share an apartment with an Arab, befriend an Arab or let their kids befriend Arabs, or even let Arabs into their homes. A poll taken by the ACRI in 2008 found that these trends were increasing. Another poll taken in 2007, by the Center Against Racism found that 75% of Israeli Jews did not approve of Jews living in the same apartment buildings as Arabs, and that more than 50% of Jews would not have an Arab boss and thought that marrying an Arab was tantamount to national treason. Fifty percent of Israelis also thought Arabs should not be allowed in the same entertainment sites and 40% wanted Arab’s voting rights rescinded. In 2012, a majority of Israelis said they would support apartheid. The racism in Israel has become so severe that Yuval Diskin, the former head of the Israeli Security Agency (Shin Bet), recently admitted that Israel has become “more and more racist.”

Israel is currently operating an apartheid state, which is quite similar to South Africa thirty years ago and America before the civil rights movement. According to a Human Rights Watch report, Israelis and Palestinians go to separate and completely unequal schools. Palestinian schools get a fraction of the funding Jewish schools get and those inequalities show up directly in the educational results. Israeli school textbooks depict Arabs as terrorists, primitive farmers, and refugees. Palestinians are often not allowed to live in the same apartment buildings, attend the same events, or even have the same rights to travel within Israel. In addition, Arabs are often singled out in Israel for suspicionless and warantless searches, while Jews rarely are.

In 2010, the Israeli cabinet approved a bill that would require all future non-Jews applying for citizenship to swear loyalty to Israel as a Democratic Jewish state. This blatant and discriminatory bill was universally condemned outside of Israel as racist against Arabs, but gained much support from Israeli Jews.

In Israel, it is against the law for a gentile to marry a Jew. Amnesty International has condemned their marriage policy as discriminatory towards Arabs. Under the Citizenship and Entry into Israel Law, Israel bars the immigrant reunification for family members of citizens of Israel and residents of Israeli-occupied territories in Palestine. Meaning that Palestinian families can be separated, legally.

In 2010, the leader of the Sephardic community and founder of the Shas party, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, stated that the sole purpose of non-Jews was to serve Jews. He also said in a television interview that “gentiles need to die…goyim have no place in this world.” In the same year, 50 state-paid rabbis signed a letter instructing Jews not to sell or rent houses to Arabs. The letter was then endorsed by another 250 Jewish religious figures.

Dov Lior, one of Israel’s top Rabbis, issued a religious edict saying, “a thousand non-Jewish lives are not worth a Jew’s fingernail.” The edict went on to say that captured Arab prisoners of war could be used for medical experiments. The religious leader also decreed that Jewish law forbids renting homes to Arabs or employing them. These racist rabbis based these edicts and proclamations on their holy book, the Talmud, which they claim allows Jews to cheat gentiles and even states that it is not a sin for a Jew to kill a gentile indirectly. To support their position, after reading the Talmud, Martin Luther wrote, “do not their talmud and their rabbis say it is no sin if a jew kills a gentile, but it is a sin if a Jew kills a fellow Jew. It is no sin if he does not keep his oath to a gentile, therefore to steal from a gentile, as they do with their money-lending service is a divine service. [The Talmud claims] they are the masters of the world, and we are there servants; Indeed their cattle.”

On August 17, 2012, Jewish-Israeli racism manifested itself into action when a group of 40 Jewish Israelis, egged on by a 15-year-old girl, chased 4 Arab teenagers shouting “death to Arabs.” Three of the Arab kids got away, but one tripped and fell and was severely beaten by the Jewish Israelis. Hundreds of Jewish bystanders watched on, many of them cheering on the lynching. When volunteers from local charities entered the mayhem to provide CPR to the Arab youth, the Jewish Israelis asked why they were trying to revive the victim since he was just an Arab. A day before this lynching, a firebomb was thrown at a Palestinian taxi driver near Bethlehem, which the government attributed to Jewish nationalism. According to a Ynet article, the Jerusalem lynching was spurred on by the Israeli government’s discriminatory policies and Israelis’ increasing hostility towards foreigners.

War Crimes

In 1982, the Israeli government allowed the massacre of more than 800 Palestinians in two refugee camps in occupied Beirut. In 2008, the Israeli government fired white phosphorous weapons into civilian areas in Gaza. The use of white phosphorous weapons against civilians is internationally illegal because they burn the victims alive in the most grotesque manner possible. Human Rights Watch claimed that the use of these weapons over such a densely populated region was evidence of a war crime. And then in 2010, Israel massacred a group of peace activists trying to bring food and supplies to oppressed Palestinians in what would later be called the 2010 Gaza Flotilla Raid. These war crimes, in addition to Israel’s hostile and reckless behavior, has led Israeli allies, such as Turkey, to now claim that Israel is a “terrorist state.” Another long time ally, Bolivia, has cut all diplomatic relations and is seeking to bring genocide charges against Israel.

War-Mongering

In 1992, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu falsely claimed that Iran was 3-5 years away from a nuclear weapon. Then in 2002, he publicly lied to America’s Congress about Saddam Hussein having weapons of mass destruction.

In addition to this orchestrated campaign of lies and perjurious testimony, Israel provided the purposefully false intelligence reports showing that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. The Israel lobby also used its resources to push America’s Congress to war. In January 2003, AIPAC executive director Howard Kohr stated, “quietly lobbying Congress to approve the use of force in Iraq” was one of “AIPAC’s successes over the past year.” Jeffrey Goldberg reported during a profile piece of AIPAC’s policy director Steven J. Rosen that, “AIPAC lobbied Congress in favor of the Iraq war.”

Then in 2012, Netanyahu lied to the American people once again by claiming that Iran was only months away from nuclear weapons. Today, the Israel Lobby is at its old tricks again by publicly pushing America to war with Syria. In fact, the push is so one-sided that many are now calling this an Israel-lobby war. Almost every major Jewish group in America supports the invasion, and Obama actually recruited more than 250 Israel lobbyists to force undecided congressmen to vote for war.

Spying, Murdering, and Supporting Terrorists

The US government has labeled Israel one of its greatest spy threats on numerous occasions, and for good reason. Israel has been caught spying on America, stealing US secrets, attacking American targets, and stealing US nuclear technology and equipment several times. See this article for details.

Israel has also worked with terrorist groups that have killed Americans, such as The People’s Mujahedin (MEK). In one such instance, Israel hired the MEK to ruthlessly murder innocent Iranian scientists and bystanders. Israel has also admitted to illegally entering sovereign nations to assassinate political opponents. In one case, Israel murdered a gardener in Tunisia as part of its terrorist operation. In another case, Israelis used fake passports to enter Dubai to assassinate a man.

Holocaust Denial

Israel, the world’s loudest proponent of holocaust awareness, is actually a holocaust denier. The Jewish state not only refuses to acknowledge the Armenian holocaust, but also actively campaigns against its recognition. Most Middle East experts attribute this hypocritical position to Israel’s trading relationship with Turkey (the equivalent to the Nazis during WWII), but further research reveals that Jewish Turks actually planned and carried out the Armenian holocaust. Regardless of the reason for this putrid holocaust denial, Israel and its lobbyists are at the heart of the international effort to deny its existence.

The Israeli Newspaper Haaretz reported that, “Pro-Israel lobbyists had previously backed Turkey on the issue [Armenian holocaust denial] but changed tack in retaliation for Turkish condemnation of Israel’s policies in the Gaza Strip.”

In 2000, Dennis Hastert, the former United States Speaker of the House, had promised to bring a resolution commemorating the Armenian holocaust to a vote on the House floor. After 85 years, the Armenian community in America was anxious for a recognition of their suffering. A recognition that was so quickly bestowed upon the Jewish people after WWII. According to a 2010 Washington Times article, just before the resolution was set to be voted upon, ”The Turks called up Keith Weissman, a senior researcher from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (Israel’s main lobby in America), and asked him to intervene. Mr. Weissman said in an interview this week that the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) lit up the phones and managed at the last minute — with the help of the State Department — to persuade President Clinton himself to write a letter to Mr. Hastert saying a vote on the resolution would cause strategic damage to U.S. interests.” The Israeli lobby achieved its goal, and Hastert removed the vote from the agenda.

In 2007, a Jewish Congresswoman named Jane Harman co-sponsored another bill (226) that would officially recognize the Armenian genocide. While this gave Congresswoman Harman, and the Jewish community in general, the appearance of supporting Armenian genocide recognition, Harman was simultaneously writing secret letters to other members of congress asking them to withdraw the bill from consideration. One such letter to the House Foreign Relations Chair, Tom Lantos, exposed her hypocrisy when it was leaked to the press. Afterwards, other Jewish leaders abandoned all pretense of decency and publicly campaigned against the resolution. The director of the Anti-Defamation League, Abe Foxman, claimed the Armenian holocaust was a mere massacre and not a real genocide. On that basis he publicly lobbied the American government not to recognize the event as a genocide. After receiving significant national pressure, Foxman recanted his racist comments and changed his position to say, ”the consequences of those [Turkish] actions were indeed tantamount to genocide.” Even in his conciliatory statement though, Foxman could not fully share a holocaust, and had to qualify it with the word “tantamount;” rather than just saying the killing of 1.5 million Armenians by burning, drowning, gassing, and other means was genocide.

In 2010, Turkey’s ambassador to the US, Namik Tan, enlisted the support of several Jewish organizations in America including the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) in order to defeat another Armenian Genocide Resolution. One of the groups, the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA) even released a position paper titled, “The Armenian Resolution Should be Opposed and Defeated.”

Stinginess

Even though Israel receives more foreign aid than any other nation on the planet, it is one of the stingiestdeveloped countries in the world. Israel is one of the richest countries in the world with 10,000 millionaires, but gives nearly 10 times less than the world average and gives the 4th least of any developed nation per capita, only barely beating out much poorer countries like Poland, Hungary, and Turkey. So while Israel took $12-17 billion in US aid, it only gave $141 million in foreign aid to nations in need of assistance in 2010.

September 11, 2001

Israeli Mossad agents, who are equivalent to America’s CIA, were actually caught with surveillance equipment filming the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks and subsequently celebrating after the towers came down. When the five men, known as the dancing Israelis, were later arrested, they kept repeating, “we are on the same side now, our common enemy are Palestinian terrorists.” After failing lie-detector tests about their involvement and knowledge of the 9-11 terrorist attacks, they were quietly released to Israel. After a thorough investigation, FBI officials concluded that Israel had to have known of the attacks prior to Sept. 11, 2001. The evidence is clear that either Israel knew this attack was going to happen and allowed it to take place in order to increase American support for Israel, or they had a hand in planning it. After the attacks, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “We are benefitting from one thing, and that is the attack on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon, and the American struggle in Iraq.” He also said, “these events have swung American public opinion in our favor.”

Iranian President Ahmadinejad claimed that most world leaders believe America (aka Israel) orchestrated the September 11 attacks, and his statement was later substantiated by the chief of Japan’s Democratic Party, who said that 9/11 was a hoax. According to the Anti-Defamation League, more than half of the world now believes that Israel was responsible for the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

Conclusion

The above mentioned instances of Israeli racism, terrorism, subterfuge, etc… just scratch the surface of the totality of the destruction that the state of Israel has brought to this world. In fact, Israel’s founding was marred by Jewish terrorist attacks against British and European targets, and the massacre and displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians. At least repressive nations such as North Korea and Iran, which do far less international and domestic harm than Israel, do not claim to be the only free democracies in their region that shares Western values. The hypocrisy and lies of Israel almost surpass its devastation.
