Trump: ‘We’ll be talking about gun laws as time goes by’

Politico

President Donald Trump on Tuesday hinted that he’ll be wading into the debate over new gun control measures, but said such conversations will likely happen later.

On his way to Puerto Rico, Trump praised the police response to the shooting that killed at least 59 people and injured more than 500 — the deadliest mass shooting in modern history. And he said conversations about gun control are forthcoming.

“What happened in Las Vegas is in many ways a miracle. The police department has done such an incredible job, and we’ll be talking about gun laws as time goes by,” Trump told reporters when asked if the shooting would prompt him to take up new legislation.

Asked about a pending bill that would loosen restrictions on purchasing gun silencers, Trump said, “We’ll talk about that later.”

The White House on Monday sidestepped questions about gun control, with press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders saying “today is not that day” for a conversation about any new gun violence prevention measures. Democratic lawmakers, however, immediately called for new controls, and started pressuring their Republican colleagues.

More details have been emerging about the arsenal that the shooter, Stephen Paddock, had in his Las Vegas hotel room as he massacred concert-goers from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel. Authorities said he had at least 23 firearms in the room, and that they had retrieved an additional 19 firearms, as well as explosives and several thousand rounds of ammunition from his home in Mesquite, Nevada. Paddock committed suicide before authorities were able to break into his room, officials said.

Paddock’s motivation is still unclear, but Trump said on Tuesday that he was clearly a troubled man.

“He was a sick man, a demented man. A lot of problems I guess,” Trump said. “And we’re looking into him very, very seriously, but we’re dealing with a very sick individual.”

  1. The police stood down with this Vegas thing, their weapons were for the most part, holstered seemingly forever. WHERE WAS THE CHOPPERS/DRONES? They could have lit up (spot lights)the Mandalay Bay, that’s their fking job!

This thing lasted over an hour, they should have lit up the Mandalay Bay within 15 fking minutes!

    Cowards? or Complicit?

    Again, this shit stinks.

  2. Interesting videos. Guy was in a taxi at Mandalay. About 4 – 5 min in they roll past Mandalay and gunfire is clearly heard. The video shows the muzzle flashes (looked like it to most people) about 5-10 floors up. They split fast, didn’t watch the rest of the video. Listened to some dude with police scanner (this guy has a you tube channel that’s his deal) for 18 min, really interesting. Calls of shots fired in many other casinos; Tropicana etc. Many interesting things that will likely be buried; pics and so on.

  3. They’re hitting harder, with celebs leading the cause. Here are a few of CNN’S headlines today:

    And this jaw-dropping 2 minutes:

They also posted a graphic showing their list of reasons why Americans own guns. It listed everything except protection from a tyrannical government. I’ll try to send it for posting.

And yesterday I listened to Henry’s broadcast on the 2nd Article. The last couple of sentences of it are jaw-dropping as well, but in an extremely positive and empowering way:

“We have the largest army on planet earth, being our citizenry, our armed citizenry, our armed nationals in this country. We are the biggest army to ever exist on this planet. We’re the only thing standing between them and world domination.”
    — Henry Shivley, on Article Two, June, 2017

ps: “WE’RE THE ONLY THING STANDING BETWEEN THEM AND WORLD DOMINATION.”

    .

  4. “WE’RE THE ONLY THING STANDING BETWEEN THEM AND WORLD DOMINATION.”

AND THATS WHY THESE GAMES ARE BEING PLAYED

  5. “… we’ll be talking about gun laws as time goes by,”

And we’ll KEEP talking about HANGING you traitors… ‘as time goes by’.

  6. Talking about it is treason, sedition and a violation of your oath, chump.

No means NO. You’ll not rape our freedoms anymore.

  7. Excerpt:

“After mass shootings in the U.S., the movement of those who seek to nullify the Bill of Rights … is always strengthened. Gun control = poor people control. Access to high-power firearms on the part of the wealthy, and of politicians, judges, lawyers and other well-connected big shots, or their privileged guards, will always be left intact. When President Obama was in office and pushing for disarming Americans, he was surrounded by as many as a dozen gunmen of the U.S. Secret Service. Implicit in this double-standard is the arrogant assumption on the part of the elite that, ‘I deserve gun protection but you don’t.’ This is the unspoken factor that is missing from the self-righteous diatribes by the advocates of high-power firearms-prohibition. The Founding Fathers’ Bill of Rights attempted to level the playing field and overcome the old Babylonian legal system of one law for the powerful and another for everyone else. Leftists are determined to revive this Babylonian inequality… … The decade of the 1950’s, which many liberals despise as ‘racist and homophobic,’ witnessed not a single mass shooting in America.”
