Wisconsin’s ‘Only Ones’ Concealed Carry Bill AB 9 Off the Calendar for 2013

Police TrainingAmmoLand

Wisconsin –-(Ammoland.com)- Assembly Bill 9 (when introduced last spring) would have, if passed, created a special class of off-duty and former law-enforcement officers who could carry places (school grounds) ‘we the people’ could not.

It also trampled private property rights of private individuals and businesses.

Wisconsin Carry was able to get amendments to the bill that would have extended the right to carry on school grounds to concealed carry license holders AND protected the private property rights of private homes and businesses.

This announcement is to relay that AB 9 has been taken off of the committee calendar and is currently not moving forward in the legislature.

I will pass along additional updates when they become available and if the bill is placed back in the calendar.

WCI continues to believe the greatest threat to your freedom and rights as a free citizen in Wisconsin are the possible FELONY charges law-abiding concealed carry license holders face if they forget to disarm (which includes unloading AND encasing their sidearm) before entering a school parking lot, driveway, etc.

We also believe that make-believe “gun free zones” which currently include school grounds and school buildings create “target rich environments” for lunatics. We believe its morally wrong for the government to compel us to fund our local schools through or property taxes, and then turn around and deny us our constitutionally guaranteed right to self-defense in those very same schools “we the people” paid for. “Gun free zones” and “No guns” signs are political signs only. They protect no one, only promote anti-gun anti-rights agendas.

Wisconsin lagged decades behind other states when it finally passed Act 35 restoring our ability to exercise our right to carry concealed sidearms. Wisconsin continues to lag other states, many of whom allow law-abiding citizens to carry on school grounds. The majority of elected representatives in the state of Wisconsin claim to support the 2nd Amendment. If this were true, why do nearly a quarter million law-abiding people in Wisconsin have to check their 2nd Amendment rights at the door before they so much as drive on a school parking lot to pick up their child?

If these legislators are not 2nd Amendment phonies, why do you and I, mothers, fathers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, legal guardians have to risk felony charges if we forget to disarm before we enter the “gun free zones”. Why do the “good guys” have to disarm and make our kids easy targets for “bad guys“. Its a special kind of cruel oppression when a government “of the people” would deny our rights, expose us to criminal charges, and make our kids vulnerable, AND DO IT ALL while they tell us they support the 2nd Amendment.

Its time for ONE legislator in Madison to honor the oath they took to uphold the constitution and fix this miscarriage of justice.

About:
Wisconsin Carry, Inc. is a non-profit corporation dedicated to the preservation and reclamation of the rights of law-abiding Wisconsin residents to carry in the manner of their choosing. We believe that “open carry” and “concealed carry” are choices to be made by law-abiding citizens based on their situation and preference. Wisconsin Carry, like many gun-rights organizations in Wisconsin, is investing a great deal of resources to get Wisconsin law changed to allow concealed carry this next legislative session by proposing Constitutional Carry. Wisconsin Carry, Inc. will continue to use legal recourse to deter unlawful treatment of law-abiding Wisconsin residents who currently exercise their right to open carry, and soon will exercise their right to concealed carry in Wisconsin.
