The three-judge US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit decided against vacating the August decision by US district court Judge Shira Scheindlin, who ruled the NYPD’s policing method was unconstitutional under the Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments.    Continue reading “Appeals court upholds stop-and-frisk ruling, ending Bloomberg’s final attempt at reversal”

Seattle police Officer Benjamin Kelly Seattle Times – by Mike Carter

The city will pay $15,000 to settle a civil-rights lawsuit that alleged one of the Seattle Police Department’s most decorated officers — the man who fatally shot cop-killer Maurice Clemmons — illegally searched a seven-time felon during an expletive-laced jaywalking incident in 2009.

Officer Benjamin Kelly found a cheap .22-caliber handgun tucked in Charles Shateek Smith’s coat that rainy January night. Under other circumstances, it would have been enough to send Smith to federal prison for at least 15 years as an armed career criminal and earn Kelly kudos for a good arrest.   Continue reading “City to pay jaywalker $15,000 in civil-rights suit against Seattle”

How can we make such bold statement?

Because we know first hand, fact is he owes AmmoLand Shooting Sports News for advertising we ran for him, when he was doing business as “Grey Lock Holsters” in 2012.  On good faith we ran his ads, as we do with all our advertisers, and after making him loads of money he stiffed us for $1800.00, dodging all our phone calls and emails ever since.  Continue reading “Deadbeat Mike Weisser, Ware Gun Shop, Stiffs The Second Amendment”

CHICAGO (AP) — Dennis Rodman is preparing to thrill North Korean fans during an exhibition basketball tour there late next month.

Though he ducked questions in an interview with The Associated Press about whether his Christmas-time visit would be used for propaganda purposes by Kim Jong Un, the 29-year-old leader of one of the world’s most repressive regimes, Rodman said he’ll be accompanied on the trip by a dozen or so former NBA players. But he refused to name names.   Continue reading “Rodman ready to bring his game back to North Korea”

I don’t know what holiday dinners are like at Michael Bloomberg’s house, but I suspect there’s an awful lot of picking at food while the windbag at the head of the table lectures the assembled guests about why he’s right and they’re all idiots. That’s the message I get from his pet Mayors Against Illegal Guns organization, which wants its loyal minions, if there are any, to sit down to their Thanksgiving feasts and immediately start fights with relatives they haven’t seen in a year about gun control. All you need is a handy list of tendentious talking points—and a shitload of patience from Cousin Bob, who rebuilds old pistols for fun and just wrapped himself around half a bottle of Jack Daniels.   Continue reading “Bloomberg Group Wants You To Start Fights About Gun Control at Thanksgiving”

Well, this is one way to welcome Bill de Blasio to the New York City mayoral office.

The slightly terrifying street art homage to the newly elected mayor comes courtesy of Hanksy, the pun-happy graffitist who likes to combine wordplay with caricature portraits of celebrities, and artist Alex Pardee. This particular design riffs off the horror of Buffalo Bill (yup, of “Silence of the Lambs” fame) and is giving us all kinds of feelings.   Continue reading “You Know You’re The Mayor Of New York City When Street Artists Do This”

macy's thanksgiving day parade protestsHuffington Post

NEW YORK (AP) — Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is awash in animal-related protests over its floats, with controversies involving the unlikely pairing of rocker Joan Jett and Shamu the killer whale.

Activists plan to line the route of next week’s parade to protest a SeaWorld float over accusations in a new documentary that the theme parks treat whales badly. And ranchers succeeded in getting Jett pulled off the South Dakota tourism float after they questioned why the vegetarian and animal-rights ally was representing their beef-loving state.   Continue reading “Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Protested By Animal-Rights Activists”
