WASHINGTON (JTA) — Kamala Harris, the junior senator from California, is reportedly set to announce her bid for the Democratic presidential nod.

Harris, 54, is a progressive on most issues who draws some ire from the left for her tough-on-crime posture when she was California’s attorney general. She pleased Democratic hearts, meanwhile, with her tough treatment of President Donald Trump’s second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, during his Senate confirmation last year.  Continue reading “5 Jewish things to know about Kamala Harris”

Despite China being notorious for its pervasive trademark squatting, the move has sparked an ethical debate about the Trump family’s overall business ambitions and the balance of power in trade talks.

China has granted another five trademarks to Ivanka Trump as trade talks with her father’s administration are in full swing, while the previous ones, approved earlier in January, cover a whole range of products and services from wedding dresses to brokerages. Four trademarks, including child care centres, sunglasses and chic party outfits, were approved on Sunday, while a fifth, dealing with brokerage services, charitable fundraising and art valuation, were approved earlier, on January 6, according to online trademark records.   Continue reading “China Greenlights Five New Trademarks for Ivanka Trump Amid Ongoing Trade Talks”

The largest single group of asylum seekers ever to cross into the U.S. tunneled beneath the border wall near San Luis, Arizona, on Monday, voluntarily turning themselves into Customs and Border Protection, according to the agency.

Migrants can be seen marching toward Border Patrol agents by the hundreds, according to video obtained by ABC News. Smugglers dug a series of seven holes, only a few feet long beneath the steel border fence, with hundreds going beneath the wall and a smaller number clambering over it, according to CBP.   Continue reading “Largest single group of migrants ever tunnels under border wall in Arizona, says Border Protection”

The Senate Judiciary Committee hearings for Attorney General nominee William Barr have focused heavily on Barr’s views on Special Counsel Robert Mueller. But nobody is asking about Barr’s legal crusade for blanket immunity for federal agents who killed American citizens.

Barr received a routine questionnaire from the Judiciary Committee asking him to disclose his past work including pro bono activities “serving the disadvantaged.” The “disadvantaged” that Barr spent the most time helping was an FBI agent who slayed an Idaho mother holding her baby in 1992. Barr spent two weeks organizing former Attorneys General and others to support “an FBI sniper in defending against criminal charges in connection with the Ruby Ridge incident.” Barr also “assisted in framing legal arguments advanced… in the district court and the subsequent appeal to the Ninth Circuit,” he told the committee.   Continue reading “William Barr’s Connection to Ruby Ridge, Defending FBI Snipers”

As the partial government shutdown enters its 26th day, President Trump has ordered thousands of furloughed government workers to return to work – knowing that they will not be paid until after the shutdown ends – to restart government functions like inspecting planes, auctioning off offshore drilling rights, monitoring food safety and issuing tax refunds.

A Trump Administration contingency plan released Tuesday calls for 46,000 worker  to return to work, joining the ranks of 420,000 “essential” federal workers who have been working through the shutdown (though they have been forgoing their paychecks at least until the funding is approved).   Continue reading “Trump Orders 46,000 Furloughed Federal Workers To Return To Work”

President Donald Trump’s tweeted support for foreign H-1B outsourcing workers is a betrayal of his American supporters, say U.S. college graduates who are losing jobs to a huge wave of cheap visa-workers.

“After I got up from the floor. I felt so sick, it was like somebody died,” said Dawn Casey, one of the leaders at Protect U.S. Workers group which wants to curb the H-1B outsourcing program.    Continue reading “‘Betrayal’: College-Grad Voters Slam Trump’s Support for H-1B Outsourcing Program”

American workers who have had their jobs outsourced to foreign workers and offshored to foreign countries are “very irate” over President Trump’s recent support for more U.S. job outsourcing through the H-1B visa program, advocates tell Breitbart News.

Every year, more than 100,000 foreign workers are brought to the U.S. on the H-1B visa and allowed to stay for up to six years. There are about 650,000 H-1B visa foreign workers in the U.S. at any given moment. Americans are often laid off in the process and forced to train their foreign replacements, as highlighted by Breitbart News. More than 85,000 Americans a year potentially lose their jobs to foreign labor through the H-1B visa program.   Continue reading “American Workers ‘Irate’ with Trump Over ‘Utterly Disappointing’ Pro-Outsourcing Plan”

Former Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) official Michael Cutler says the current “crisis” of mass illegal and legal immigration to the United States is the direct result of “globalists going back decades.”

In an exclusive interview with SiriusXM Patriot’s Breitbart News Tonight, Cutler argues that the country’s immigration system — which imports more than 1.5 million illegal and legal immigrants a year — is not “broken” as Democrats and Republicans often claim, but actually operating “exactly” how politicians and their billionaire donors intended it to work.   Continue reading “Michael Cutler: Immigration ‘Crisis’ a ‘Delivery System’ for Elites”

WASHINGTON – Tulsi Gabbard, the Democratic congresswoman from Hawaii who announced her bid for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020 over the weekend, promised that her campaign will focus on “the issue of war and peace.” This statement alone sets her apart from all of the other candidates who have already announced their intentions for the next presidential race: She is the first, and possibly only, candidate who plans to make foreign and defense policy a central part of her platform.   Continue reading “Tea With Assad, Hugs With Adelson: Tulsi Gabbard’s Unique Views on Israel and the Middle East”

Policy wonks in pro-business think tanks across Washington probably wet their pants Friday morning when President Trump hinted that an immigration policy that many of them have long advocated for could soon become a reality.

In a tweet, Trump said changes are coming to US immigration policy that would simplify the application process and clear a “pathway to citizenship” for H1-B visa holders – a cohort of workers, including doctors and software engineers, who are highly educated and work in highly specialized industries.   Continue reading “Trump Planning To Ease Immigration Restrictions On Skilled Workers As Wall Battle Rages”
