In what can best be described as ironic, Big Brother is finally turning their sights on law enforcement.
After years of abuse, the city of Baltimore wants to purchase fingerprint scanners for the police.
An article in the Baltimore Sun reveals, the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) is struggling to control overtime abuses, spending nearly a million dollars a week.
Finally, police admit that corrupt police officers are criminals!
To stop these ‘criminals’ from abusing the system, Baltimore wants to install fingerprint scanners in all their police stations.
The hope and it is a slim hope at best, the BPD would require police officers to scan their fingerprints to prove they worked the hours they claimed.
An anonymous police commander claims police officers need to have their fingerprints scanned…
“Unless you have a way to track where people are when they say they’re working, particularly overtime, then there is always going to be abuse,” he said.
While the BPD should be applauded for trying to stop overtime abuse, it is doubtful the Baltimore Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 3 would ever agree to it officially.
An article in the National Review warns, police unions have too much power and shape our criminal justice system for the worse.

Will police unions agree to fingerprint scanning?
According to the Baltimore Sun, Lt. Gene Ryan, president of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 3 claims, ‘he has no problem with the department’s adopting a biometric system’.
Will police unions really agree to have police officers fingerprints scanned daily?
Two reasons to doubt police unions will agree to fingerprint scanners:
1.) Requiring biomteric scanners to verify hours worked would set a precedent.
2.) Police officers will claim it is an invasion of their privacy.
Does anyone really think police unions would allow the BPD to set a precedent allowing finger print scanners?
Also, you can bet police unions will claim that fingerprint scanners would leave their officers vulnerable to hackers.
Do you think an argument can be made that forcing police officers to submit their fingerprints is a matter of public safety?
Isn’t that what they tell everyone about DHS’s national ID card (Real-ID) and facial recognition cameras?
As this story unfolds, you can bet EVERY police union in the country will be offering their support to defeat this.
Whatever arguments police unions use to defeat this, Americans should use them to defeat the things I mentioned above.

Ok, this is ridiculous! Why stop at fingerprints? Although I feel a sort of morbid gleefulness at the thought of police being required to prove they showed up for work ( why would a psychopath miss an opportunity?) …..why stop there? Let’s not forget that the pigs have the keys to the evidence room. Why not require urinalysis as well? Police work can be very stressful….easy access to (stolen) drugs would neccesitate careful monitoring. I mean we are required to give a piss test in order to work. Why not them too?
