Authorities are searching for a man seen on security footage licking the doorbell of a California home and relieving himself in the family’s yard.
Police have identified the man as Roberto Arroyo, 33, and say that he spent three hours around the Salinas home of Sylvia and Dave Dungan.
The couple had been out of town, during the strange incident, but their children were sleep inside the family’s home. They noticed something amiss when they woke up to multiple alerts from their surveillance system, which notifies the homeowners whenever there is movement near the front door.
‘I thought, “Boy, there’s a lot of traffic. 5 in the morning? My son doesn’t get home until 6 a.m,” Sylvia recalled to KION 546. ‘”Well, then, who the heck is that?”‘
Footage showed the man licking the doorbell. Police say that the man appears to have also relived himself in the family’s front yard.
‘You kind of laugh about it afterwards because technically he didn’t do anything,’ Dungan said. ‘This just kind of reinforces how important it is to have security within your home.’
Dungan asserted that the family wiped down the doors following the incident.
Arroyo is said to have gone to a neighbor’s house as well.
‘Never have we seen anything like this,’ added Stephanie Rosario, a neighbor to the Dungan family.
Police are still searching for Arroyo.
‘We were pleasantly surprised the image was so clear, to the point that it didn’t take us long to identify this individual,’ said Miguel Cabrera with Salinas Police, according to WTOC.
The suspect could be charged with two misdemeanor counts for petty theft and prowling.
