  1. Thank you for posting these beautiful photographs, Paul!
    We live in Florida, so I don’t have to tell you that we
    don’t get to see this!

    Reminds me of a poem I learned many years ago in
    grade school in a one-room schoolhouse in rural
    Georgia. At my advanced age I can’t remember all
    of it, but I will always remember the ending…..
    “Poems are made by fools like me,
    but only God can make a tree.”

    Thanks again for sharing the beauty of Fall!!
    We need something positive in these dire
    times!

    1. Trees

      (For Mrs. Henry Mills Alden)

      I think that I shall never see
      A poem lovely as a tree.

      A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
      Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;

      A tree that looks at God all day,
      And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

      A tree that may in Summer wear
      A nest of robins in her hair;

      Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
      Who intimately lives with rain.

      Poems are made by fools like me,
      But only God can make a tree.

      ~ Joyce Kilmer

      1. Oh, Smilardog! Thank you so much for
        finding this poem. I attended a one-room
        school in rural Georgia many years ago.

        Norman Rockwell heard about our teacher,
        who was being paid $400. per year to teach
        a room full of poor children, all of whom she
        loved dearly. Mr. Rockwell visited our school
        and took pictures of our teacher, Mrs. Mac,
        and the children, many of them barefoot,
        sitting around an old pot-bellied stove.

        I understand that these photographs were
        among Mr. Rockwell’s favorites.

        Mrs. Mac loved us children and taught us
        not only the 3 R’s, but all about nature and
        the Lord God! That was a time when it was
        not against the law to speak the name of
        Jesus in public schools.

        Thank you again for sharing this poem with me.
        This was truly a blessing!

  2. hey 1611 Believer, and Smilardog for your comments. I love to look at what God can do. Us humans have messed up so much of HIS world.

    1. Amen, Paul! Your pictures
      really made my day!!! And
      then Smilardog coming up
      with the poem….does not
      get much better than this!!

      And we must remember, in spite
      of all we know that is going on
      and is coming, God is still in
      control, and HE has the final
      say. He is THE GREAT I AM!!!

      1. I agree 1611. it looks like HE is beginning to judge this nation. Unless this nation turns from it’s wicked ways, and it doesn’t look like that is going to happen. Our redemption draweth neigh. 🙂
