Suspect in Cop Shooting Barricaded in Home, Police Negotiating

ABC News

A man barricaded himself in a home in Northern California overnight after allegedly opening fire on police and fleeing Wednesday afternoon, authorities say.

Police say they have made contact with the man.

After an hours-long manhunt and hours of negotiations, officers deployed teargas into the house in the Fremont area in an attempt to get the suspect to come out, according to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department. The area is about 40 miles from San Francisco.

The two cops were wounded in the shooting Wednesday in California’s Bay Area, according to the Fremont Police Department.

The incident began during a traffic stop around 1:33 p.m. local time, police said. During the stop, the suspect backed into the officer with a car, and shots were fired.

One officer was then rushed to a trauma center, and the suspect fled on foot. Shots were then fired at a second location, resulting in the second officer’s being injured and taken to a trauma center.

Officials say one officer is in stable condition while the other remains in critical condition.

Police had said earlier that more suspects could possibly be on the loose, describing the main suspect as a Hispanic adult male, approximately 6 feet tall and wearing shorts and a San Francisco Giants shirt.

Police are unable to confirm whether suspect was injured in the encounter.

  1. Is it an illegal? Why are they out of the sanctuary city? Get your sorry you know what back into the city of anything goes. This will all be forgotten as a misunderstanding.

  2. “Officials say one officer is in stable condition while the other remains in critical condition.”

    Fail.

But at least the pig in critical condition still has a decent shot at becoming a ‘good’ pig.
