The Powerful Scene On The Streets Of Baltimore Monday Night That No One Is Talking About

Violent rioting erupted on the streets of Baltimore on Monday, the day that a 25-year-old man who was killed while in police custody, Freddie Gray, was laid to rest. Cars were burned, more than a dozen police were injured and people raided stores across the city.

The Governor of Maryland declared a State Of Emergency, the Mayor of Baltimore imposed a curfew and the Maryland National Guard was sent to patrol the streets. But chaos and violence were not the only things happening on the streets of Baltimore.

Hundreds of Baltimore clergy linked arms and took to the streets in an effort to restore the peace. WBAL Reporter Deborah Weiner described the remarkable scene. “These are the church leaders who are putting themselves in harms way to end the violence… they are linked arm-in-arm… one gentleman is in front in a wheelchair.”

“I asked the clergy what they thought of the State of Emergency that the Governor declared,” Weiner said. “They said there has been a State of Emergency way before tonight in Baltimore City, an emergency in poverty, lack of jobs [and] disenfranchisement from the political process.”

In an editorial, The Baltimore Sun called on “the thousands who have already marched in peaceful solidarity with the Gray family’s cause, and the many thousands more who have silently supported them, to take back the movement, to drown out those few who choose chaos over order.”

  1. It will help end violence the riot. Once the cops realize the loss to the city in cost will keep them from getting a pay raise. And no job opening for there idiot children do to the hiring freeze. Then maybe they will think this cost me before they beat and murder.

  2. “Hundreds of Baltimore clergy linked arms and took to the streets in an effort to restore the peace.”

    As ordered, no doubt.

    1. They have cancelled the Oriole baseball game tonight but tomorrow afternoon’s game will be played. Since authorities will be so busy keeping everyone safe, the public will not be allowed to attend the game!

      1. Riots make for a MUCH better dog & pony show than any ‘ol baseball game, Millard.

Back in about 40 or so. Gotta run to the store before it starts raining. Gettin’ dark outside. 🙁

        1. Agreed #1, I just thought it funny that Camden Yards will be locked and it will be the first game ever to be played with no fans.
Hey #1, I need to talk with you sometime so when I see you back on line I’m going to call.

          1. I’m back.

And my phone just finished charging.

            AND it’s raining.

The bad thing about rain here is that no one uses umbrellas, so if you do, you get pegged as a tourist.

            Don’t use one, myself.

  3. Federalized police state full speed ahead.
The national guard and company go by military law. The protesters should really think on that for a moment.
Did anyone notice what was on top that armored vehicle on fox snooze today?
