PASADENA, Texas — One person is dead and three others are injured after a chemical leak and explosion in Pasadena on Saturday afternoon.
Pasadena officials responded to a call about a chemical leak explosion at the PeroxyChem plant at 12000 Bay Area Boulevard around 12:45 p.m. Saturday.
According to officials with PeroxyChem, plant employees and contractors were conducting a routine function when the contractor’s equipment exploded.
Authorities say there was a leak of an oil-based cleaning solution. They say one person, a contractor, died at the scene and three sustained injuries, including one person who suffered a broken arm. Two other people were exposed to the chemical.

Of the three injured, one was a contractor and the other two were PeroxyChem employees. All three were taken to a local hospital to be treated.
“We are deeply saddened to report the loss of the contractor. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones,” officials with PeroxyChem said in a statement released Saturday afternoon.
The incident remains under investigation.
