1997 North Hollywood shootout: Two bank robbers, covered from head to toe in body armor, were able to engage officers for an hour long gun battle. Three hundred and fifty officers of the Los Angeles Police Department responded to the call. The shootout resulted in 11 injured LAPD officers and seven injured civilians.
