  1. the exact reason I was taught sighting at 225yrds. good vid. I think his gun is too pretty. needs some scuffs and dried sweat.

You got to pay more for a “too pretty” “show and tell” piece. crazy. I like the “where did you find that” look myself.

    OH!
Just got the barrel and BCG(not counting pod and sights) left on this spring/summer black-rifle project. Then fit/safety test(hs) and a full break-down and off to the laser etchers to get a Diggerdan tribute added.

I’ll vid, pre and post paint so the etching will show up better on video.

I’m not money heavy so it will probably be 2 more months.

Good post Paraclete. 50yrs is easier to accommodate and less variables.

  2. When I was in the Marine Corp we were told if you need to quickly site in a new rifle do it at 38 yards. BSO (Battle Sight Zero) for Marines is 300 yards. This 38 yards quick sighting (I guess) puts BSO to 300 yards….I never tried it myself. I was a high expert on the KD course 12 times and way to maticulous to trust the 38 yard stuff. We would center the windage and take 3 shots at the 200 yard line. Then as the drill instructors taught us “do BOLD dope changes”. Then we’d adjust the dope usually like 20 clicks to the right and 15 clicks up. Three more shots and now your close to the bull. Then it’s 5 clicks up and 3 to the right. Three more shots and bang …you’re in the black. Fives and fours…five and fours…we don’t want no Maggies draws…is what we used to sing.

  3. Until viewing this ….I would find zero at 25-30 yds.
Then move on to find zero at 100 yards.
Will be looking forward to trying the advice in
the vid. next I go out.
Just built an AR A3 HB Flat Top 16″
Went with the mil spec Magpul MOE adj and Magpul grip.
DPMS lower kit, SAA receiver, and the Double Star upper.
(NATO) With a standard Charging handle, an Aim BDCG.
Did it all for under 7…..”and did it my way” : )
Nothing too fancy, just quality up grades that make
a difference, than most entry levels come with.
But the problem that I have is, I am ammo stingy.
Hate the thought of sending money down range.
    Especially these days …..
Lately, instead of dipping into my vast reserves.
I just use the range loads.
Which, to my surprise is really good stuff, at
    this particular range house.
We have a local indoor shop, that’s high tech,
and they’ve proven to be a quality place.
Owned and operated by a recent Vet.
They even recognize the need for quality gear
    and stock that too.
And the best part is, the prices are fairly reasonable.
