Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius had three-and-a-half years to build the Obamacare exchanges. Now, GOP House members in charge of oversight want answers as to how the online system that cost taxpayers over half-a-billion dollars has failed on such a grand scale.

On Thursday, House GOP members of the Committee on Energy and Commerce sent aletter to Sebelius requesting an oversight briefing to occur no later than October 16th. WASHINGTON (AP) — For the second straight year, millions of Social Security recipients, disabled veterans and federal retirees can expect historically small increases in their benefits come January.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Dozens of medical marijuana dispensaries in Los Angeles have closed, and the city attorney says more will be shutting their doors soon, following a voter-approved crackdown.

Thirty-eight pot shops that do not comply with a municipal ballot measure approved earlier this year are in the process of being shuttered, City Attorney Mike Feuer said. While in Vietnam from ’71’ to ’72 there was an Easter Offensive.  Biggest one since Tet ’68.  My job  was to take requests from the field and alert airbases around Vietnam for specific information on tactical air strikes.  Our information was usually classified Secret for specific targets.  Strangely, a document with no cover sheet landed on my desk.  I looked at it and it was a Top Secret CIA document which predicted that Laos, Cambodia and South Vietnam would all fall.  They all did 3 years and how many hundreds of thousands of deaths later.

Activated during the LA Riots in ’92 I was surprised to see that our activation orders read OPERATION GARDEN PLOT.  Not many people know this but active duty USMC from Camp Pendleton were put on the streets of Long Beach (there was major rioting there as well as other cities.  The orders were made a week before the Marines set foot in Long Beach.    Continue reading “A Veteran’s Report From the Trenches”

The Air Force is firing the two-star general in charge of all of its nuclear missiles in response to an investigation into alleged personal misbehavior, officials told The Associated Press on Friday.

Maj. Gen. Under pressure from governors, the Obama administration said Thursday it will allow some shuttered national parks to reopen — as long as states use their own money to pay for park operations.

Governors in at least four states have asked for authority to reopen national parks within their borders because of the economic impacts caused by the park closures. All 401 national park units — including such icons as the Grand Canyon and Yosemite and Zion national parks — have been closed since Oct. 1 because of the partial government shutdown. WASHINGTON –  President Obama signed a bill late Thursday to pay death benefits to families of fallen soldiers during the partial government shutdown.
