Going Commie, indoctrination begins at an early age, the earlier the better; to convince mature adults takes facts, but to influence a young malleable mind is relatively easy. Children that have not been exposed to the world can be corrupted with little or no effort. A paradigm model utilized by Mao was convincing enough to allure millions upon millions to the cause – the tool for indoctrination was Mao’s Little Red book of quotations; an inspirational political and military document.
Some of the quotes from Mao have found their way into America’s education system; case in point are the following quotes:
Socialism must be developed in China, and the route toward such an end is a democratic revolution, which will enable socialist and communist consolidation over a length of time. It is also important to unite with the middle peasants, and educate them on the failings of capitalism.
The Chinese Youth represent an active, vital force in China, to be drawn upon. At the same time, it is necessary to educate them, and for the Youth League to give special attention to their problems and interests.
It is the responsibility of all to cultivate themselves, and study Marxism-Leninism deeply. It is also necessary for people to turn their attention to contemporary problems, along empirical lines.
So there we have it, the new curricula initiative based on Common Core is raising all kinds of hell in the populace. Not only are parents upset, but state educators are furious at the thought of a common core based curriculum takeover by the Federal government. From the little red school house to the socialist red tide takeover of the education of our children.
The copyright ensures that the standards will be the same throughout the nation, creating a de-facto national curriculum. The standards also carry a generous public license which waives the copyright notice for State Departments of Education to use the standards; however, two conditions apply. First, the use of the standards must be “in support” of the standards and the waiver only applies if the state has adopted the standards “in whole.” This use of a copyright for public policy document is unprecedented in U.S. political history. The effect of the copyright and public license is consistency across the states; the standards cannot be changed or modified, creating in effect, a national curriculum.
The Common Core has drawn criticism from across the political spectrum, from the liberal Brookings Institute to the libertarian Cato Institute. Conservatives, including several Republican governors, have assailed the program as a federal “top-down” takeover of state and local education systems. South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley said her state should not “relinquish control of education to the federal government, neither should we cede it to the consensus of other states.”
The more states know about Common Core, the less they like the Federal Government telling them what to do.
We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force.
