IBRAGIM_TODASHEV_-_POSSIBLE_SHOOTING_SUSPECTB’Man’s Revolt – by David Martin

Sometime in the evening of May 21 a contingent of law enforcement officials arrived at the apartment of 27-year-old Ibragim Todashev (pronounced Ibrahim To-DAH-shev).  The FBI says that the group consisted of an FBI agent, two Massachusetts state troopers, and “other law enforcement personnel.”  So there were at least four of them, and we may presume that they were all armed.  Their interest in Todashev was occasioned by the fact that he was an acquaintance of Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the elder of the two Chechen-immigrant brothers accused in the Boston marathon bombing.  Todashev, like Tamerlan Tsarnaev, had been a mixed martial arts fighter and had lived for a time in the Boston area.  Their common professional interests and heritage had apparently brought them together, at least casually.   Continue reading “The Todashev Killing and the House of Cards”

LONDON (AP) — British spies are running an online eavesdropping operation so vast that internal documents say it even outstrips the United States’ international Internet surveillance effort, the Guardian newspaper reported Friday.

The paper cited British intelligence memos leaked by former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden to claim that U.K. spies were tapping into the world’s network of fiber optic cables to deliver the “biggest internet access” of any member of the Five Eyes — the name given to the espionage alliance composed of the United States, Britain, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.   Continue reading “Guardian: Documents expose massive UK spying op”

Chomsky: “Obama Is Running The Biggest Terrorist Operation That Exists”

Leading liberal Noam Chomsky  said yesterday:

The Obama administration is dedicated to increasing terrorism. In fact, it’s doing it all over the world.  Obama is running the biggest terrorist operation that exists, maybe in history:  the drone assassination campaigns, which are just part of it […] All of these operations, they are terror operations.   Continue reading “Experts on the Left and the Right Agree: America Is Running the World’s Largest Terrorist Operation”

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Imagine the scenario: A federal agent attempts to arrest someone for illegally selling a machine gun. Instead, the federal agent is arrested — charged in a state court with the crime of enforcing federal gun laws.

Farfetched? Not as much as you might think.   Continue reading “Gun laws: Federal nullification efforts mounting in states”

STONEHENGE, England (AP) — Police say more than 20,000 celebrants have gathered at the famed Stonehenge monument to mark the summer solstice.

The cloud cover Friday morning prevented bright sunshine at dawn of the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere but a joyous spirit prevailed. Police say there were fewer arrests than usual with 22 people taken into custody, most for drug-related offenses.   Continue reading “Stonehenge gathering marks summer solstice”

Foreign-backed militants fighting against the government of the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad say they have received new weapons which they claim can change the course of the battle.

“We’ve received quantities of new types of weapons, including some that we asked for and that we believe will change the course of the battle on the ground,” a spokesman for the so-called the Free Syrian Army (FSA) Louay Muqdad said on Friday.   Continue reading “New weapons supplied to militants in Syria”

We know that steaming the bud of an otherwise intimidating thistle flower yields a delicious cooked artichoke and that beyond the menacing claw of a lobster awaits yet another delicacy.

We can also thank our foodie forefathers for discovering the things that can kill us. To those who discovered that belladonna and hemlock should not be eaten: we salute you. But we’re a funny bunch. Although our most basic instinct is for survival, we continue to eat poisonous things, or parts of them at least. If you doubt it, consider the following foods.   Continue reading “Surprisingly Poisonous Foods We Eat”

Before It’s News – by Mort Amsel

US Secretary of State John Kerry last week called for immediate US airstrikes against airfields under the control of Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime – specifically, those fields it has used to launch chemical weapons raids against rebel forces, Bloomberg’s Jeffrey Goldberg reported.

Kerry presented his plan during a principals meeting in the White House situation room, but Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey “threw a series of brushback pitches at Kerry, demanding to know just exactly what the post-strike plan would be and pointing out that the State Department didn’t fully grasp the complexity of such an operation,” according to the report.   Continue reading “Secretary Of State John Kerry Should Resign Immediately”

The Ulsterman Report

Just days after CBS investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson confirmed both her work and personal computers were hacked during her investigations into such anti-Obama stories as the Fast and Furious gunrunning scandal, the Green Energy stimulus scandal, and later, the Benghazi Massacre scandal, Obama Attorney General Eric Holder (who is deeply involved in all of those scandals) issued a letter to Congress indicating the spying tactics used against Fox investigative reporter James Rosen were “appropriate”.  Holder claims Congress may have “misinterpreted” his earlier under oath remarks when he testified that no journalists had been prosecuted by the Justice Department for publishing leaks.   Continue reading ““Appropriate” Eric Holder Doubles Down On Government Intimidation Of The Media”

Then, one by one, a handful of famous cases surfaced… like Sir John Templeton, who renounced his US citizenship in 1964 and moved to the Bahamas. Continue reading “US Senate to retroactively punish runaway tax slaves”

The Dissenter – by Kevin Gosztola

An “insider threat” program launched by President Barack Obama encourages a culture of snitching among federal government employees and establishes a work environment where managers can be punished for failing to report suspicious activity, according to a feature story by McClatchy Newspapers.

Marisa Taylor and Jonathan Landay detail the “unprecedented initiative” is “sweeping in its reach.” It “extends beyond the US national security bureaucracies to most federal departments and agencies nationwide, including the Peace Corps, the Social Security Administration and the Education and Agriculture departments. It emphasizes leaks of classified material, but catchall definitions of ‘insider threat’ give agencies latitude to pursue and penalize a range of other conduct.”   Continue reading “Obama’s ‘Insider Threat’ Program: Discourages Whistleblowing, Treats Leaking as Aiding the Enemy”

Yesterday, a small group of supporters congregated in Concord, New Hampshire to support Mayor Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns. They read off a list of people “killed by guns” while standing before their “No More Names” bus.

In the rush to demonize gun owners, the New Hampshire Union Leader chose to focus on one “gun rights supporter” arrested when he “placed his hand on an officer.” If this man indeed assaulted somebody, that’s a criminal act, and all reasonable people will condemn it. However, a much more interesting assault occurred that received no coverage: the Mayors Against Illegal Guns consider self-defense to be “gun violence.”   Continue reading “Bloomberg’s Real Agenda: Self-Defense is ‘Gun Violence’”

A preliminary analysis of the list of shooting “victims” New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s group Mayors Against Illegal Guns is reading at rallies for new gun control laws finds that one in 12 are crime suspects killed by police or armed citizens acting in self-defense.

The review of 617 killings found that 50 were suspects in crimes ranging from assault to murder, not the type of violence Bloomberg’s group suggests in its “No More Names” campaign to draw attention to the estimated 6,000 gun death “tragedies” since the mid-December Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in Newton, Conn.   Continue reading “1 in 12 on Bloomberg’s gun victims list are crime suspects”
