Frank Zappa – I Am The Slime – 1973
” I am gross and perverted
I’m obsessed and deranged
I have existed for years
But very little has changed
I’m the tool of the government
And industry too
For I am destined to rule
And regulate you
I may be vile and pernicious
But you can’t look away
I make you think I’m delicious
With the stuff that I say
I am the best you can get
Have you guessed me, yet?
I’m the slime oozin’ out
From your TV set
You will obey me while I lead you
And eat the garbage that I feed you
Until the day that we don’t need you
Don’t go for help : no one will heed you
Your mind is totally controlled
It has been stuffed into my mold
And you will do as you are told
Until the rights to you are sold
“That’s right folks
Don’t touch that dial”
Well, I am the slime from your video
Oozin’ along on your livin’room floor
I am the slime from your video
Can’t stop the slime, people, lookit me go “
I LOVE this song!
This is the epitome of what I think of television.
SLIME!!!
Saw him do this live with The Mothers.
Best guitarist I’ve ever seen – hands down.
I had a chance to see 3rd row for free, had a friend who was a Zappa nut and let him go instead, figure would catch him down the road, ooooops! The night he died I saw Tull and Anderson walked out on stage before show, house lights up and mentioned his death and with glass and bottle of wine drank a toust to him, whole house roared with approval.
Frank Zappa was a true original in a world of copycats. He was on to what was going on around him and had a interesting way of laying it out. A very accomplished guitarist, sadly underrated. He had his own unique style, playing and in his lyrics. A giant in his field, and is truly missed.
Excellent post #1 Thanks
A true musical genius, LesPaul. Highly intelligent, and not just limited to his music. He was the George Carlin of the music industry. He knew exactly what was going on with the NWO, and he put a lot of his insights into his lyrics.
Truly missed.
I had the honor of attending a live concert of a musical and literary mastermind. Frank Zappa had an IQ off the charts and was requested to conduct the worlds most famous symphony during his touring days. It should be mandatory for everyone to absorb “Cosmic Debris”. The guitar alone is worth the listen if your not ready for the rest.
You know I rarely post songs, Millard, but this is one of those exceptional ones.
#1, Zappa was sarcastic to the ninth degree. A true original that we won’t be blessed with in every lifetime. Dweezle and Moonbeam could attest to that.
Ha, great song, had an album of theirs in high school, never heard this one though! Thanks for posting.
Damn #1 I didn`t expect that bro. that was excellent thankyou #1
